Very few people have defended the move. There is a difference between defending the move, and just saying that they have done it in the right way. IMO moving a sports club out of its home town is wrong, but, from a CCFC point of view, Wasps have done everything the right way.

You might not like the councils actions, you might not believe them to be the best for the city, but a local authority will never make a policy decision based on spite.

Its fine for both sides to hide behind it. However when it becomes apparent that one side is doing nothing behind it, then it is nothing more than a smokescreen.

I do think though this could be a case of them pretending they know more than us. I wouldn't be surprised if this is just them trying to bully Wasps into getting a good long term rental deal. The tactics that didn't work against everyone else might now be heading for Wasps.

When you say this council what exactly do you mean? The council i.e. the 54 members, changes all the time. The last being just 7 months ago. Do you mean the cabinet? Again that changes every year as well. I'm sure your not expecting a long list of achievements of the last 7 months are you? No...
