It shouldn't be about if they want to. The laws are an integral part of the game they want to play. If they want to make it as a pro football so much proving they have an understanding of its laws and how to apply them isn't much to ask..

Really? Do they have to get an actual qualification? Do they have to do stuff like reffing lower age groups? Makes you wonder why there's so few refs available and also why they give so much grief to refs.

Been saying for ages part of their scholarship should be a referring qualification. Would give them a much better understanding of the rules and the pressure. So much effort is put into getting kids to think about coaching etc a a fallback, but almost nothing on reffing.
