    Statement by Councillor Ann Lucas

Had this conversation the other day, Sisu obtaining the ground doesn't mean they're gonna sell it! We've witnessed the spite they're capable of, wouldn't be at all confident that would end should they acquire the Ricoh.

    Statement by Councillor Ann Lucas

But....had they vetoed the sale on the grounds of obligation to the city's only professional football outfit, it would have surely given Sisu conclusive proof that they really were the only show in town, strengthening their bargaining power, and providing the green light to obtain the stadium...

    Would you go?

Spot on. The criticism Sixfields attendees received wasn't due to an aversion to franchising. They were criticized because it seemingly endorsed Sisu's disgusting tactic of removing the club from it's home city to financially starve the stadium owners.

    Would you go?

Tell you what fella, if you feel that strongly about Wasps being here, get yourself up to the Ricoh, bedecked in a Sandwich board and hold aloft a placard with some Wasps hostile sentiment, and lobby/heckle the punters before they go in.

    here we go...

Okay, agree it would, but as you said, doesn't mean they would take it.... Is this latest action likely to improve the working relationship with Wasps? Don't think so... Wouldn't engaging in a friendly, cordial working relationship with Wasps (and the fans of CCFC) be a better strategy of...

    here we go...

You don't know this. None of us do. I think Sisu are of a malicious calibre that, if they did obtain the Ricoh, they'd hang around for a while just to ensure we are more Royally Rogered than what we presently are....

    here we go...

Yes, I dare say this was the case. But that does not take into account prospective legal/litigation cases they in all likely hood would have had to defend themselves against at costly expense. In a way, Sisu's tactics worked. They did financially beleaguer CCC/ACL to the point where they had...

    here we go...

Did you, or did you not say we are where we are because of fans and the councils attitude? I think it's hopelessly naive to think Sisu unite club and stadium and think everything will be Hunky Dory. They have shown nowt but contempt for this club, supporters and citizens of Coventry in general...

    here we go...

It is an indirect defence of Sisu (We are where we are at due to the attitude of fans/local authority) via pointing the finger of blame away from the major protaginists. The 'club' would not own the stadium, Sisu would. I, and crusty old colonial types say by jingo.

    here we go...

By Jingo you're right! It's all our fault! All along we were blaming Sisu for their abhorrent malpractice but I think you've just solved the riddle!!

    here we go...

Sorry Dave, as a poster on here who's opinions I normally concur with, this is a dreadfully naive thing to say. Sisu own the club, but they've never acted in the interests of the club as a sporting entity or a footballing representation of the City of Coventry. I, and I suspect many others...

    Badge coming down :(

This, encapsulates in a nutshell how I feel about the situation. Grown men -Coventry born and raised- wearing Liverpool/Man Utd jerseys are far more of a quite literal red rag to this conscience than any Wasps bandwagoners, I couldn't give a fuck about 'em! I too would never attend a Wasps...

Has anyone got any updates from the SBT meeting tonight?

What I am saying is there is also the misapprehension that Sisu would sell club and stadia on had they acquired both. Nothing's really changed, only who will prove to be the more benevolent landlord, Wasps or CCC/Higgs ACL.

Has anyone got any updates from the SBT meeting tonight?

Disagree. Had Sisu actually bought the Ricoh, "We" would not necessarily be any the better for it. Once again somebody falls into the trap of thinking Sisu "are" the club, and will always act in it's best interests. If our club was a movie character, we'd be the child from the Exorcist. Until...

Has anyone got any updates from the SBT meeting tonight?

I think what it is Torch, is that the council simply did not believe that Sisu would spend the next 2-4 years not trying to distress them further. They were still appealing the JR decision after all, and this allied to a third of the councils budget being slashed due to Tory austerity cuts...

Coventry City FC giant crests may be moved at Ricoh as Wasps make mark on stadium

Remember seeing Ndlovu's first goal for Cov wearing this shirt.

Coventry City FC's bid for half of Ricoh Arena firm rejected

"Certain players will be banished from this football club"

Faith was wobbling, but can't deny the intensity of the passion the man has for this job. You wouldn't mess with him either. Years ago, during his stint here as a player, he used to frequent my local, the Craven Arms in Walsgrave with Gary Gillespie for a pint or two and a game of Darts. One...
