Everyone has a different frame... I’m probably one of the heaviest in my group at Godiva, but I conversely also possibly have one of the lowest body fat ratios.... just a question of body composition. But generally, if you’ve got less weight to carry, you’ll be more efficient...

Purple Bin your method sounds quite similar to the “couch-to-5km” programmes/apps that you can find online. Not had any experience of them myself but I believe you aim to run slightly further each time/week, interspersed with brisk walking. You’re certainly not too big to run.... at my biggest...

Northbrook is known amongst our club as one of the toughest local 10km races (I expect I’d find it too flat to suit my strengths though, having only ever done two road 10kms). Just a note for anyone that Bedworth Parkrun is not on this weekend...

Cov Sphinx v cov united FA Cup

I went to Sphinx away with Bedworth United in the fa cup... when the “wall fell down” and there was the pitch invasion. Pretty much to be expected with Bedworth’s away lot... The game after was the notorious York City away match...

My latest escapade was on the Long Mynd Hills last weekend.... the 5 mile Callow race. A measure of the difficulty is that 5 miles took me 1hr18 and I was far nearer the leaders than the back-markers..... (even the winner couldn’t break the hour mark). In the entire 5 miles there was perhaps...

    Nick Kyrgios

Definitely smashing it at someone with the intent of hurting them is a bit suspect, can’t disagree with that. But in a “net battle”, a ball close into the body is very difficult to deal with.

To be fair, on the rare occasions I’ve played tennis (same applies to badminton where I reached a reasonable level), aiming into the body at close range is a decent tactic, as the opponent cannot manoeuvre their arms to return it...

Raced a track mile at Godiva tonight, in the Warwickshire Open meeting. Absolute pain from the off. You obviously need to temper your efforts in order to not blow up, but you can’t afford to dawdle or you’ll get blown away. After a fast first lap, I took a bit off on the 2nd lap, then started...

Finished 11th in today’s Holyhead Mountain Race... 7miles over North and South Stack, then up and down Holyhead Mountain..... another hot one, although marginally less oppressive than last night on Snowdon.... Spent most of the race battling for 8th/9th position.... but last night’s race...

Well I managed 59:23 from Llanberis to the summit. A slight disappointment as I had been hoping to hit 50mins. That proved to be totally unrealistic given the conditions (28deg at the start) and even a number of international standard runners were unable to go under 50. I did put a few rivals...

It is indeed two circuits of the paths, starting and finishing near the toilet/cafe block. Although I don’t know the geography of the Mem Park too well so I couldn’t be exact... Currently lying on a bed in a Llanberis b&b trying not to get too freaked out by the sight of Snowdon out of the...

I did Cov Parkrun this morning too... a somewhat disappointing 18:50.... though I suppose as I’ve been training very hard, twice a day, most of this week, I couldn’t really expect to feel fresh... Need to keep some perspective though... it’s all about being fresh on the start line in...

What is going on with the Tory leadership contest?

Bollocks.... she got off lightly.... no matter how valid your protests may (or may not) be, in the current climate if you go careering round a dinner containing high level VIP’s and MP’s, then you’ve got to expect some ramification. She’s incredibly lucky there wasn’t any security present (or...

My dad recalled playing league pool against him (at one of the Social clubs in Foleshill) and he was indeed smashed.

I noticed quite a few English in Verona.... particularly in the bars around Hellas.... The Americans always seemed to be headed towards Venice.... Actually apart from Verona, I can’t remember noticing any English anywhere (although it was October last time I went, despite the very...

Ran in the 3000mtrs in the midland league at Godiva today. Standard was pretty immense. I ran 10mins48 (which for all the parkrunners is bang on 18mins pace for 5km) and I could still only finish 8th out of 9, and was lapped by two people.

    Diego Maradona

To be fair to Napoli, they had a fair team.... after all, his strike partner was Careca, who I would compare to Romario.... and at least a couple of strong midfielders.... I’m not saying what he bought to them wasn’t astounding.... he’s my greatest ever player too, and it’s almost certain...

    Another fatal stabbing in coventry

Understand what you’re saying... but after the amnesty, there’s no excuses when the gang-members are automatically locked up. They had their chance to give their knife up.

    Another fatal stabbing in coventry

I understand the comments from so called “experts” that you can’t just lock people up and hope it goes away, you need to get to the root of the issue... However something needs to immediately be done, to protect the public... I would have a National two week amnesty, where knives can be handed...

It’s at the Godiva Harriers track at the Warwick Uni. There’s track events on all afternoon from about midday... think I’m off at about ten past 4. Next proper race (I.e on the fells) is the Snowdon Uphill on 28th June. From centre of Llanberis to the summit of Snowdon. I’ll be hoping for...
