2023/2024 Second Best Season of All Time

And we failed to make the play-offs with a squad that probably should have made it with some very expensive signings in it. Nor did we get to the Cup Final. It's been a decent enough season overall, though the start and end have been disappointing, but don't think we can rate it as one of the...

    Transfer Rumour Godden

I'll be honest at mot I was expecting a nominal fee of say 100k if Godden were to leave, if not free if we have a specific target in mind and need his wages.

    Da Silva

Problem with wingbacks that come through academies like Chelsea's is that the spend a lot of time attacking and don't have defensive frailties shown up. Yes, he signed as a WB but that comes with defensive responsibilities and him being higher up the pitch just makes it easier to get in behind...

EARLY CUP EXIT NEXT SEASON PLEASE

If we're going to still have a small squad I'd forego the cups, but having said that I wouldn't want an embarrassing defeat to lower league opposition. Ideally get a PL team away early on, put in a good performance and narrowly lose. Heads held high but avoid the later fixture congestion.

    Season tickets for 2024/2025 season

Club need to act F.A.S.T on this.

    The sack list

If I was Doug I'd agree to provide the funds short term to get the targets in early, rather than having to wait for the sales and risk missing out. Then take the money back when the sales occur. Doubt Doug would do that though.

    Ex Player Watch

Agree, though I thought it was his hips.

    Ellis Simms

Have to be at least £15-20m to consider it. Whole point of this season was getting the players bedded in for a proper go next season, so ripping the spine out would make it a waste. I think now he's finally settled in he could be an absolute beast next year and vital to any promotion challenge.

    Tiredness

If you compared the intensity of top level football then to now it's far quicker now. It'd look L1 standard now. With sports science players are pushed to their limits. Back in the day they'd be in the pub smoking a fag an hour after a game.

Match Thread Coventry City - Queens Park Rangers Match Thread - Saturday 4th May

Again, leave out anyone fatigued or nursing a small injury and fill the bench with kids. Bell, Lusala, Ryan, Andrews, Stretton, Dausch and maybe Perry, Betjemann and Siddall to feature in the squad somewhere. Would play Simms and Wright (provided not carrying injury etc. cos I'd like to see...

    Sporting in for Latibeaudiere?

As he covers a few positions it just gives us that bit less to have to do this summer, which already needs quite a few players. A bit like Allen. At some point yes we will need to upgrade, but we have more pressing things to consider before they become a priority.

    Tiredness

I think that's a very old-school view MR (and AV) have taken from their playing days. That's why a lot of players had to retire early 30's - because these 'minor knocks' added up and next thing they know they're fucked as a professional athlete. Look at Dabo. Played through injury and the...

    Tiredness

So you don't think they can be any correlation between doing basic things wrong and fatigue.... Even though the amount of basic things we've got wrong seems to be increasing the more games we have to play in a shorter amount of time...

    Aidan Dausch

Didn't realise Moore had done another ACL. As I've said on another thread I've no idea how many goals Dausch has at academy level this year (it could be between 8 and 30) but for the U21 he's got 3 in 20 appearances (roughly half started). So doesn't exactly suggest he's going to be banging...

    The sack list

Those that are still in contract won't be released unless another team signs them so we don't have to pay them off The squad is already small enough with making it smaller whilst reducing the budget at the same time.. Dasilva especially on his long contract is unlikely to be going anywhere...

    Aidan Dausch

He's not a regular starter for the U21's, or knocking them in for fun when he does play, and there are others from the academy who've played more U21 games than him. Andrews has signed a pro deal, as has Isaac Moore but has been injured. Similarly Batanwi has been injured who featured a lot, so...

    Tiredness

It is infuriating that he acknowledges the tiredness then does nothing to mitigate. He's clearly ideologically opposed to making changes before the hour, and will avoid them if he can. It was clear to see some of the players, like Sheaf, Thomas and Lati were struggling with tiredness but are...

    Corners.

They were awful earlier in the season. Most of the barely left the ground. Think it was something like 84 corners he took before we scored from one.

    Match Thread Ipswich Match Thread

Trying to find what to take from that game and what I've got is: Palmer just wants to do flicks and tricks rather than actually be an effective footballer, so we need a better option. Dasilva is always targeted with the ball over the top, and doesn't seem to be adapting to it. But as his job is...

Yep. Teams know how to target Dasilva defensively, so at best he'd be a backup for LW. Palmer just wants to do Hollywood flicks rather than stuff that is actually constructive. I think Lati is knackered, hence his injury, but he does make errors, but then so does most of the rest of the defence.
