Ran the Northbrook 10km today, and as planned, it formed the middle section of a long run (i'd knocked up 17.5 miles by the time i got home). Ran 40mins flat (ok..... 40:04) Had hoped for a little quicker..... the plan had been to run the majority uphill first 6km in as close to 40min pace...

    Another club session last night, and another ordeal in 30 deg heat on the track. 800mtrs 2 x 400mtrs 3 x 200mtrs 800 (target 2:32) 2:37 400s (target 72) 72 70 200s (target 32) 33 33 33 Another one where i felt poor, although not much of a surprise in the conditions. Northbrook 10km on...

They weren't full sprints...... 200mtrs uphill is too far to fully sprint...... and 5 of them, thats a full km of effort between each 3 minute rep. But they were decent consistent pace....... for me they were generally between about 3:42-3:49/km Then slow jog back down after each one, so...

Nice one..... its a tricky one indeed. We were on the grass at Warwick Uni tonight in warm and sunny conditions. 3 minutes 5 x 200mtr uphills 3 minutes 5 x 200mtr uphills 3 minutes My sort of session.... a bit of a grind, and nothing excessively speedy. Managed to make each 3 min rep...

I did a solo session at the Uni this morning. 6 x 1 mile with 2 minute rests. 5:53 5:49 5:48 5:48 5:47 5:47 The aim was to get a decent amount of good quality work in, without running at a pace that would "empty the tank" before the coming week.... i didn't really know exactly what pace that...

    Godiva Festival 25

Remember going around 99 or 2000 and you could just walk into the park with a load of booze. Was a bit "wild west" back then, seemed to be a fair bit of trouble. Only went for the DnB though.

I've been pressurised into doing the Northbrook 10km a week on sunday. Have said i'll do it, but on condition that i'm "training through", will not drop any sessions or taper for it, and just treat it as a hard run. In fact i'll probably run to the start (5 miles or so) and run home after...

Who was in goal the furst game you saw ?

Oggy for me. What a side that was.... Quinn and Rosario up front. Ndlovu and Gallacher. Babb in defence.

    Matchday Rewind Barnsley 1 - 4 Coventry City | Sat, 11 Aug, 2007

First game of the season. I kept up to date with this in a bar in Lindos, Rhodes...... walked in to see a Leicester flag over the entrance and a table full of Leicester fans, who gave me the customary reception (and a few harsh words, as the Baby Squad had recieved an hostile welcome in...

I do single-leg strength work in the gym for running. Single-leg-press being my current favourite. Soon find out where your weaknesses are (in my case my right leg considerably weaker than my left..... not a surprise as i was a solely left-footer at football, then heavily left leg dominated...

    Running

I've effectively took 10 years to be consistently running 70 mile weeks. A couple of years i ran 20-30 miles and loads of cross-training. Then dropped the cross-training and jumped to 40 miles per week over a year. Next few years were between 50-60 miles, then last three have hovered around...

    Running

Just as my first post this morning. Build it up to running (minimum) 4x a week, just take as long as it takes...... then can start to put in longer runs. You've got plenty of time so no need to condense it into a 12/14 week plan....... but you do need to start as soon as possible. When i go...

    Running

I personally wouldn't follow a 12/14/18 week training plan out of a magazine or internet article. Too much of a jump in mileage too soon. To go from running the odd 5km and 10km each week, to regular 30 mile weeks within 3 months....... you might get away with it if you're particularly well...

    Running

Is it Manchester you're dong? So thats April next year? Start now. Not 14 weeks before. Start getting out and running easy pace, regularly........ slowly building up the time you spend on your feet. Once you can get out, as you say, 4 times a week for a reasonable amount of time, then can...

Personally i think those kind of guides are ok for up to half marathon. 5km up to half marathon have similar training principles. But there's such a difference to then go up to marathon, to almost make it a different sport. If you're doing 10km in 52mins then it would be very impressive to go...
