I thought it an uninspired appointment. Happy to own the wrongness of that to date. Long may it continue!

Frank has passed his first full season test set by King .

He's just managing expectation. It's going to be difficult for every team to achieve what they want in this division. It's an unforgiving, attritional league. Nobody's going to have it all their own way this year. We do need a couple in January; I'm sure if the right player is available at the...

    Where we are at

He's coming back from injury. He's probably not fully match fit. Sure he'll be a quality signing for them. It was a good deal for all concerned.

    Where we are at

You have to let this go. Players of Hamer's quality are as rare as hens' teeth at this level. We were never going to get a player that brings all the things he brought. We did what we needed to; invested across the squad and adjusted our style accordingly.

    Rushworth or Wilson

    No, they definitely look alike.

    Millwall Player Ratings

Rushworth faultless, another disciplined performance from Thomas and Kitching, BTA caused them a lot of problems.

We didn't play that well and won 4-0. I'll take that. Second and fourth goals were beautiful (and a wonderful pass on the fourth by Allen to open the pitch up for us). Two excellent saves by Rushworth at the end.

Decent, and we should be further ahead, really. They're getting some joy down the wings, though.

    Sheffield Wednesday "on the pitch"

Considering this, it's an exceptional start that the team have made.

He puts dangerous balls into the box, and has has excellent vision, so frequently plays balls in over the top from out wide. He doesn't carry much of a goal threat himself, but he's been unlucky not to have a few assists to his name this season. He's also a real pain in the arse for defenders.

It's also really weird, because it tells you how important the city was to the war effort and the sacrifice that it made in the fight against fascism.

    Officiating

That's a leg-breaker. He's very lucky there, but not half as lucky as the bloke on the receiving end.

    Chris Davies

"More than enough of a threat to get a goal back." They carried no goal threat at all, even with eleven men. They came with some battle and closed the spaces reasonably well for 15 minutes, but had no threat whatsoever. I mean, none. Nada. Zilch. I also don't know how it's possible to argue...

I like Birmingham as a place; it was the scene of much 1990s excess for me. This lot, though, are just an embarrassment to it. They have a higher twat to normal supporter ratio than most clubs, and that's the truth.

And I forgot Eccles. He gives you that proper bite in the midfield; he's an excellent option.

And props to Simms; that was a great cameo.
