It is a fair question. It needs answering in light of the FL's unswerving rejection of their own guidelines. Is it possible that there were historical oversights with regard to player registrations etc.?

They will have to expect much closer scrutiny over this and all related issues. The FL is weak but worse, is also culpable for not sticking to its own safeguards and guidelines. If the expected trouble erupts at NTFC they will have to face up to their abject failings.

The other dimension to this is the unexpected. Feelings are running high, the few on the pitch at Crawley was a response to actually going 2-0 down. Nobody can really legislate for what could tip this into a massive riot.
