    Ellis simms

I’m just listening to last nights post-match and BTA confirmed he was playing through injuries throughout last season. Significantly, it corroborates @Jimmy87 intel which confirmed all 3 of our strikers were dealing with significant knocks at the tail end of last season. Last season was the...

    Ellis simms

I was right behind the goal, and my first thought was that it was going in. However, having watched the replay, it was probably going wide and in fact, looks like it could’ve been a deliberate nod across goal because BTA and EMC were at the back post waiting to poke it in. Kudos to BTA to being...

    Ellis simms

Simms, BTA and Haji were all out/playing with injuries at points last season. Simms’ best goal last season was v Swansea where he bullied a defender, and finishes the move. He should’ve scored last night and was denied by; BTA who nicked his goal, a fantastic save from their keeper and a miss...

Match Thread Portsmouth FC - Coventry City Match Thread - Tuesday 21st Oct

I thought we were class today. Had we won 3-0, no one would’ve complained too much. Their goal was an annoying error but it was good to see the players so disappointed when conceding a goal. They really wanted that clean sheet! BTA gets the plaudits for the goals and was unlucky not to score...

    xPts Table 10 games in

Which is why the early panic about conceding from set pieces was a bit OTT. V frustrating but generally low xG chances and its a problem that is fixable. The red flag is when teams create chances from open play. We've conceded one goal from open play all season, which is slightly fortunate...

*Unpopular opinion alert* Matty Grimes isn't athletic enough to be a Prem mainstay. Undoubtedly one of, if not the best CM in the Championship but there's a reason he was at Swansea for so long despite consistently being the elite of the elite in the Championship. I agree on the other 3...

    25/26 January Transfer Window

My ideal would be 2 wingers, one of whom can play AM. If we’re in the top 2 or thereabouts, in January we really need to sign players who are ready to start in our team, and perhaps even the Prem from Day 1.

Don’t judge us till we’ve played 10 games

It's a good trend. Our team is better than Sunderland's in 24/25 imo and to err on the side of optimism, the strongest relegated side appears to be Leicester who will probably have a points deduction to contend with. Unlike last season, you had Sheff U, Leeds and Burnley who lost v few games...

Don’t judge us till we’ve played 10 games

You look at Millwall and QPR in particular, their form has been solid despite their heavy loss to us! The bookies would've made a few quid when Millwall battered WBA 3-0 days after our hammering of them.

    Victor Torp

I’m glad you’re not in charge of negotiating transfer fees! We won’t sell him because he’s too important to the team. In any case, you’d be stupid to sell for anything less that £10-15m for him. The underlying data from last season suggested that Torp could be a top performing CM.

    AI: Good or bad?

That’s a massive red flag, that said, was reading somewhere that because of requirement for UC was for receipts to apply for jobs, it’s supposedly flooded recruiters with job applications. AI is probably exacerbating that trend. AI is a useful tool, but its outputs are only as good as its...

EMC is a much bigger threat as a LW. BTA has carved out a good role as a 2nd striker because he gets the ball centrally to fire off good shots. It's no surprise that nearly all of BTA's goals for us have come when playing 2 strikers. At LW and even RW, BTA looks quite awkward imo.

    25/26 January Transfer Window

2-3 attacking players will do the trick. We played well v Blackburn but there was the feeling that we were struggling to change the game before two top quality ranged finishes. The squad is still a bit thin, we need options from the bench and the depth when injuries kick in. No, KKH and Brau...

5 wins on the bounce may be a bit too much. This is a winnable game but will be a tough place to visit. A draw would be a decent result from this.

It was the same the year they got relegated. Anyone who remembers that season actually looked with envy at Blues recruitment when Eustace was doing well there.

Cracking goals from Torp and BTA today! Rushworth deserves a big shout out for saving that shot in the first half that looked like it was going in. First 15m looked good, rest of the first half was a bit flat. Struggled to create any big chances and thought Blackburn probably deserved a goal or...

    Israel - Palestinian Conflict

Actually, let’s talk about that because it was related to Legia Warsaw fans clashing with the police before the match. As a result, UEFA then banned them for 5 away matches. If Tel Aviv fans got to Birmingham, kicked off with police badly then being denied entry is a reasonable response.

    Israel - Palestinian Conflict

This is good stuff actually. When Hamas builds tunnels underneath the entirety of Gaza (transportation hub), repurposed aid for military use and stores weapons in civilian areas such as schools, residential flats, hospitals and places of worship… … Can you not see how the blurring between...
