Forgot to say, thought Pask looked excellent when he came on... He will be a valuable asset for us off the bench if Hyam / McFadzean are struggling against a pacy striker.

I thought Shipley was not that effective today, but what pleased me was how often he got into the box in the 2nd half - he will score a reasonable number of goals this season.

Thoughts on game: Allen presses the opposition very well up the field, works tirelessly and composed on the ball. Defensively we were a bit lucky at times - think our lack of pace through the middle will cost a few goals. Jobello whipped in a few decent low crosses across the box which a goal...

    Transfer Rumour Bids for Chaplin

I agree that Robins probably didn't plan to sell him this summer, but I reckon the recruitment team have thought about different possible scenarios already. Chris Badlan and Dave Boddy seem very on the ball and I bet there has been a lot of talk about who Robins could get after Barnsley's...

    Hiwula

In pre-season it's easy to overestimate the abilities of new players and underestimate what we have already got... If he gets as many games as last year, I think Hiwula could get 15 goals or so. I think Robins is going to set us up for quick counter attacks away from home: Hiwula's pace is an...

Yep, I was thinking that after I'd made that post!

I know what you mean Otis, I haven't got rose-tinted specs (the lack of legroom at Highfield Road was awful in the West Terrace for example). However, I used to love walking from the station and drinking at pubs progressively closer to the ground. For me, the matchday experience is not just...

Though I am not as 'senior' as you (!), I completely agree. The Ricoh is a completely soulless bowl; will never be 'home' in my eyes. I am re-locating to Devon in the summer: I will go to more games at St Andrews than I would have at the Ricoh. I feel very sorry for CCFC fans in Coventry, but as...

Lock us out starve them out

Great idea: lawful protest that would really piss their supporters off and potentially disrupt their games!

    Goalkeeper

Going back to original post... Have spoken to several Bristol City fans... who are relieved that Frank Fielding is off their books. Decent shot stopper, not good at taking crosses at all, according to them. Never seen him play myself, but from what others are saying he doesn't sound like...

    Substitutions

Sylus, I agree with you regarding pushing Hiwula out on the left. He clearly isn't comfortable there and is possibly the most natural finisher we've got. I wonder if Chaplin would be worth starting on the left? Though I like Shipley's workrate I reckon he is a L2 player, not L1. If we see...

Match Thread Shrewsbury Town vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 22nd Dec

Worries me that he gave Hiwula a chance before Allasani. Last week I thought Allasani had a good impact on the game when he came on. I would have started him on the left today or brought him on with 1/2 hour to go at the very least. I am still supportive of Robins as manager, but his...

Match Thread Fleetwood Town vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Tuesday 27th Nov

Lots of issues last night - 1st half performance was ok though... Main issue for me was not winning the ball in midfield. MR won't drop Doyle, but I think the time has come for him to be a sub, not in starting XI. Kelly would do a better job now. As for Bayliss: show pony. For all his obvious...

    Robins on CWR

Chaplin will come good. He gets into lots of positions to score goals, like McNulty did. He can also finish with both feet. I think once he gets his first goal, he will go on to score quite a few for us. I was at Yeovil away last year, early in the season and I couldn't quite believe the shit...

Jordan Shipley - is he good enough for league 1

He will probably get half a dozen goals this season. He sparked us into life in the away game at Oxford recently. Yes, he has been poor recently but as others have said Doyle's passing has been wasteful too. I think he is a decent squad player at this level. Whether he should be starting...

I agree with you that Willis was at fault for the first: he ducked to avoid the ball but he didn't get a shout from Hyam behind him (I don't think). Don't think he slipped, seemed deliberate. We could have had a couple of pens against us for handball today too: could have been worse!

Burge 5 Sterling 4 Brown 7 Hyam 6 Willis 6 Doyle 5 Kelly 6 Thomas 7 JCH 5 Chaplin 6 Shipley 4 (Thompson 5, Andreu / Bakayoko not enough time to judge) Thought Brown caused them a few problems down the left 2nd half & that Thomas was our most lively player today.
