    General Election 2019 thread

Because the older people voted Tory they're clearly wiser? There will be an element of experience involved but between 40-50 it starts out of self interest - the body and mind have started to very slowly decline and self interest becomes more important to protect your own assets in fear of...

Judge Says Belief in Biological Sex Not Protected

I think it's the difference in background. From a legal perspective people can change sex, so a judge is going to look at it from that perspective. From a biological perspective humans cannot change sex. There are some species that can (mainly fish and amphibians I believe) and we can't...

So we agree then. The big issue was Brexit, not Corbyn's former associations.

For me the big issue with this is the fact it is looked upon as 'better education' that reduces social mobility and entrenches the sense of entitlement and superiority in those with more means to pay. A thick fucker in private school will be given far more credibility and opportunity via social...

At what point have I suggested Labour 'just carry on'? Missed the point entirely, as you were talking about associations carrying on with you forever. In which case if his 'terrorist sympathising ' was such a massive factor why wasn't it such a massive factor in 2017 when the Conservatives had...

Do you ever look at anything other than stuff praising Alexander? Are you in a cult in which he's the leader? His brother quit because he didn't trust him. He's cheated on his wife numerous times (and even cheated on the women he was cheating on his wife with). Even during the election the...

Because he was pro-Remain and Leave painted it as project fear. Who from the leave campaign repeated these? Johnson didn't, Gove didn't, even Farage didn't. All talked about aspects that could be kept. So if this was untrue and they knew it to be untrue shouldn't they all be being investigated?

What like Gove who gave out the phone number for Downing St to a third rate radio interviewer just to deflect from a question? Or a PM who got a British national more time in prison for not paying attention and basically agreeing with what she's been accused of (and who's dad was a trainee spy...

    New Labour Leader

So why didn't he get so massively rejected in 2017? He must've done a lot of terrorist sympathising in the last two years?

It's all very well saying why was austerity brought in, but you have to ask why austerity was brought in at the same time as massively cutting tax rates resulting in a loss to the exchequer that has had to be filled by more borrowing on top of the cuts. Alternatives/compromises were available...

Out of contract in the summer

Those are the only three I'd look to keep, but Westbrooke does have an option for another year. Which would mean leaving: Addai Allassani (option not exercised) Baka Bosma (option not exercised) Brown Hickman (option not exercised) Maycock Thompson (option not exercised) Wakefield Walters...

Doing a good job of demoraliseing our fans

4th January 2020 3pm is also the date advertised for us playing Rotherham at home in the league. That fixture was known about back in June - Bristol Rovers 2 days ago. We'll now probably end up playing that on a wet Tuesday at 7:45pm. Bet our and Rotherham's fans who were planning attending...

Because they're renewable.... the rotation of the earth and the movements of the planets do that. You may have noticed I didn't mention geothermal which many others do because the heat from the centre of the planet is harder to replace.

    General Election 2019 thread

I've always tried to work to the belief that the electorate are far more intelligent than they're given credit for. Sadly this result has made me question it, not because they believe in something different but because of the tactics they've been sucked in by and some of the reasoning I've heard...

Not sure it's turkeys voting for Xmas, but more voting for Thanksgiving as an alternative to Xmas. At least two of those get a pardon (although probably end up on someone's table each year - never see any follow up on how those pardoned birds are doing......)

    Transfer Rumour McCallum.....

I reckon we'd take £1m + 15%+ of further transfers + 250k appearance fees + 500k England cap. I'm not sure with McCallum if we should go more all out fee just in case - he's still got a lot of developing to do to make it at a high level IMO

Greta Thunberg / Climate Change Summit

Wind, solar, tidal...... These are improving and growing all the time, and we've barely started looking at how much we could increase their capacity. Every roof and wall is a potential solar energy plant. Every building a potential wind generator. Millions of acres of potential energy...

Greta Thunberg / Climate Change Summit

And when it was a lot hotter humans weren't here. The planet would survive. We could not evolve or adapt quickly enough to survive or at least have a massive percentage of our species die out. Think of it like your body fighting infection. It heats the body up to kill off the infection.

In terms of social policy we are. Economically we're quite far right. Over there a lot of people see Bernie Sanders as akin to Corbyn - over here he'd be centre-left.
