Match Thread Birmingham City (A) - Fri 15th April

Not a fan of the zonal system. If I saw the opposition were zonal marking I'd just make sure I got two or three players attacking one zone and aim the corner there.

No real surprises unchanged. Bench has more experience but just how fit will they be? Fully expect few subs (if any) and for them to be made very, very late.

And who's to say we won't loan others in to replace JCS and Maatsen? I have a feeling next year we may have a few more loans in than this in order to be able to sign better quality permanently. Not ideal, but a better option than a really small squad and no loanees.

It is an assumption (and a big one) but the argument was that we'd be worse off if these left and we bought in half the number of players because our small squad would be even smaller. I was just pointing out that as these lot never play anyway and are unavailable because they're out on loan any...

But if you take out those like Hillsner, Dacosta, Walker, Pask who should be members of the first team squad but are nowhere near and replace them with two who actually are then overall we've gained because we've now got 2 players who will be able to come in rather than 4 who the manager won't...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Well, we'll have to wait and see but the main point in that is LOCAL. They don't actually mean very much in terms of changing policy. Each council are hamstrung by decisions taken at a national level and many councils going Labour would just lead to a Tory govt slashing council funding and...

Student loan interest - an absolute disgrace

I agree to an extent, but more needs to be done in the education sector (and in employment) to make sure that those jobs that are important but don't attract people to them do. I know the market is supposed to do that but it doesn't appear to be working particularly well.

Student loan interest - an absolute disgrace

I agree. Considering they're supposedly trying to push STEM, they really are making it an unattractive long term proposition. The entire system needs a rethink, whereby less emphasis is put on things like uni in subjects where it's unnecessary and greater kudos is given to technical and...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I'm struggling to understand you not getting that being in the EU would not have legally stopped us doing what we did. Political pressure is one thing, but it isn't the same as saying "Brexit allowed us to do it". It didn't, because we could have still done it even if we were in the EU. Whether...

Student loan interest - an absolute disgrace

But if that's the case, why didn't they write it off for the students rather than selling it to a debt collector, who by nature they know will pursue it vigourously? You're taking the hit anyway, so take the political goodwill from writing it off. Basically, they've got very little from it, the...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

So not something we needed Brexit to actually do then? Literally in the same sentence you say we couldn't have done then immediately admit we actually could. Like VAT etc. we could still have done it, it's just whether we'd have broken ranks to do so. Not being able to doing something and not...

So why do you keep on voting for the party that constantly keeps on doing it? Also, didn't you criticise Corbyn for suggesting nationalisation of railways? And yes I know New Labour added a private element into some public services, which was a massive mistake and we'll be paying for it...

Student loan interest - an absolute disgrace

Did you miss the bit where the plans are to extend that 30 year period to 40 years? Or that interest on the loans became linked to be above CPI? Why is an interest rate linked to the inflation rate at all, let alone set above it? If anything it should be linked to the borrowing rate and should...
