Be interesting to see how this goes. Maybe Bassetes energy rubs off on Simms. A clean sheet would be nice

I think the debate has established a few things. 1) If you’re spending £4m on a player try and make sure they are good. 2) If you’re spending 1-2m on a player try and make sure they are good and 3) if you’re signing someone for more or less than that try and make sure they are good.

Granted. But the gems are always there somewhere. It’s ridiculous to rule out making signings from there.

I’ve not enjoyed a match thread as much as this in ages.

You just can’t find talent in League 1. If you looked for gems there in times past you’d have ended up with no hopers like Maddison and Wilson.

Who is talking about aiming low or being cloggers? Just saying don’t ask your players who are least comfortable on the ball to have the most time with it 30 yards from your own goal. It’s very simple, it’s a totally stupid tactic.

I’m not saying our players are bad. But if you’ve got Thomas, Kitching, Latibeaudiere for instance you’ve got to play to their strengths. The tactic is very high risk and normally very low reward.

I think you’re missing the most relevant point. The teams that are able to do it well have the best players. The teams with the best players do well.
