Don't think it's been that weird. Start of the season we were playing the wrong formation and when we changed it results improved. End of the season we've had a lot of games in a short space of time and players have picked up injuries. I wouldn't say I think we're favourites for promotion next...

Maybe because it's a genuine reason. We've had a few players getting injured the last few games when we've been playing games in quick succession. Also seen more basic errors in games. Both of which can be directly linked to fatigue.

Not really. In wartime there was massive restrictions on reporting in the UK and on how it could be reported. It's what happens in war for reasons of both morale and intelligence.

Problem with wingbacks that come through academies like Chelsea's is that the spend a lot of time attacking and don't have defensive frailties shown up. Yes, he signed as a WB but that comes with defensive responsibilities and him being higher up the pitch just makes it easier to get in behind...

If we're going to still have a small squad I'd forego the cups, but having said that I wouldn't want an embarrassing defeat to lower league opposition. Ideally get a PL team away early on, put in a good performance and narrowly lose. Heads held high but avoid the later fixture congestion.

If I was Doug I'd agree to provide the funds short term to get the targets in early, rather than having to wait for the sales and risk missing out. Then take the money back when the sales occur. Doubt Doug would do that though.
