Quite so. His 49 goals in the 1931-32 season is exactly how many the entire team scored this season.

    Released players - all leagues

Interesting to see just how many of them have played for us at one time of another. Anyone brave enough to attempt this?

Yes, it's Gyokeres, Shipley, O'Hare, Hyam, James and Og where, using some fancy footwork, Og is either Osti gard or Own goal.

A few statistics at the end of a very satisfactory season In only 5 of our games was the difference between the two teams greater than 2 goals (1 win, 4 defeats) The only draws we had were 0-0 (7) and 1-1 (6) We took 10 out of 36 points off the top 6 and 13 out of 18 off the bottom 3 After a...

Relegation final stretch , who will stay up

Of the 9 possible outcomes, Derby get relegated 4 times, Rotherham and Sheff Wed get relegated 7 times each. My feeling is that Rotherham will lose and Derby and Sheff Wed will draw, so Derby will survive. How many times were we doing this type of calculation during our time in the top tier?

    Overall thoughts on the season

Dangerous to set expectations, but it looks like an extra 10 points would be needed to get into the top half, so we'd need to do what we did this season but turn 5 draws into wins. Not unreasonable.

    Overall thoughts on the season

Both Derby and Rotherham can still get 46 points, can't they?

    Why were we ever worried?

I do have some sympathy with Rotherham and Wycombe, promoted with us, who have found life in the Championship just too hot. Had our results against just these two been reversed we would now be staring relegation in the face. Well done us.

    Everyone still confident ?

Deja vu for those of us who watched them in the Premier League. 'If they'd painted the Titanic sky blue etc etc'

Fair comment. I couldn't get a hair cut during lockdown and put on some weight. Lovely legs though.

Have to agree. Highlights for me were Frusbloodytrating, Didsapointing atleast, would of, and, best of all, Robin's

One of the biggest games in recent years

And a win would mean that we had a better record than Derby, Huddersfield and Birmingham. Well, I can dream.

    Thursday

Just delighted that no-one has described it as a 'must win' game.

    Why the inconsistency

Inconsistency is an integral part of the beautiful game. How else to explain Preston winning at Swansea or Sheff Wed thumping Cardiff yesterday? Every fan yearns for 'consistency' but football is a game of fine margins which can make a team appear hopeless one day and world beaters the next. If...

    Must win

Can we please stop saying that our next game is a 'must win' game. Those of us who remember the Premier League seasons know that a 'must win' game is a game you must win in order to avoid relegation (Everton and Spurs come immediately to mind). I just hope we don't have any 'must win' games this...

    Half term report

We've now played all the other 23 teams in the Championship, and only 9 have beaten us. Of those 4 were by one goal, and the other 5 were against teams that are currently in the top half of the table. Our only really shocking result was against Blackburn. I'd say that that was a pretty decent show.

    Terry Gibson

You said it. In that season he scored 19 goals and the next highest (Bennett) was 7. The following season he scored another 19 and the next highest was 5 (Regis).

    Standard of Refereeing

I knew that if I stuck with this forum long enough I'd read something eminently sensible......and here it is. Thank you GMK for articulating what so many of us feel. When the history books are written the demise of the beautiful game will be traced back to the introduction of VAR.
