For me you would have to classify the entire cup winning squad as legends for what they achieved, although possibly not Sedgley, but definitely Rodger.
In addition to that, in my lifetime (83/84 onwards), I would only add;
Speedie
Ndlovu
Dublin
I want to say Shaw for longevity of service, but...
IF we had a local rival that gave a flying fuck about us (see definition of 'rivalry') then maybe I would go if I wasn't watching City.
But seeing as we don't then no I won't be.
We've won 2 of our last 15 games, and have picked up 20 points from our last 22. I'm not so sure I back our chances of picking up 18 points from our remaining 6 games.
Tend to agree. Another contender would be the 1 win in 21 during the second half of the 02/03 season that took us from play-offs to almost being relegated.
Sure is great being a City fan.
I completely agree. 33 years I have supported the club and this has definitely been the most gut wrenching time I can remember. Watching us play this season up until the end of November was an absolute joy, unrivaled by anything since 1998 imo. You started to sense the buzz on matchday that...
We have only had ONE top TEN finish in the last 26 (probably 27 in a couple of months). That for me is a worse statistic than no top 6 finish in 47.
Throw in 2 relegations, being forced to play in fucking Northampton, and renting the stadium that was built for us from a London rugby club.
And...
Why would our recent form now be relevant in our first play-off game should we get there? Surely the form we show from here to the end of the season to get into the play-offs (should we do it) would be more relevant?
For the hell of it, the best side out of that lot;
Murphy
Christie, Turner, Pennington, Stokes
Baker, Fleck, Vincelot, Moussa
Wilson, Armstrong
Subs
O'Brien
Murphy
Maddison
Clarke
Martin
Reda
RCC
We'd have won the league already with that lot.
Thought we were comfortably the betters side against Burton until Phillips confirmed my suspicion that he should be nowhere near our 1st team. Or 2nd for that matter.
Has anybody else noticed the similarities between this season and 83/84? Our high point arrived on 10/Dec 83 we battered Liverpool at HR to sit 4th in the league. After that we barely won a game and stayed up on the last game of the season;
Upto and including the Liverpool game P17, W9, D4...
