When my son lived with me he wanted me to listen to some of his favourite bands. So to keep him happy I put on Ash,Doves,Stereophonics, Muse,and Keane. And enjoyed bits of all of them especially Doves who I'd never heard of. Are they still going ?

As Otis thread has shown music is subjective and we all have likes and dislikes. I think our mood can have a bearing on what we listen to as well. Sometimes you can't beat some ACDC or Metallica blasting out,while other days you may like to chill out with Enya ! Joking. Whatever you like sod...

Like Otis grew up listening to the Beatles,Stones,Who,Kinks,Troggs,Small Faces. And these bands I still like today. But loved 70's heavy metal and ACDC,Sabbath,Zeppelin, Saxon,Motorhead has to be my favourite music.

Yes I know that. Donnington was always the venue for Monsters of Rock. But went to Milton Keynes Bowl a few times as they have had some top acts there. Looked Download up and you're right its the new name.

OMD were at the Bowl in 1991 also the Stranglers with Simple Minds top of the bill. My then missus came with us to that one as she liked Simple Minds. Don't think its called Monsters of Rock now maybe Download ?

You forget to mention the flat beer ! We used to get tanked up before going inside !

You may be right it may have been at Milton Keynes Bowl when Simple Minds were on. The last Monsters of Rock we went was Ozzy headlining. Nobody wants to do them anymore !

A group of us went to loads of concerts especially Monsters of Rock each summer and before the headline act came on you'd watch lesser bands etc. I was impressed by OMD who got the crowd going,and we all said we weren't expecting that !

Have you been dragged along to a concert and then come away saying that was pretty good ? For me my mate had a spare ticket to see Blondie at the Villa Leisure Centre in Brum,he said we can have a good drink before so I was up for that. I was expecting a pop concert,but it turned out she'd gone...

Our performance on Saturday I thought was good and if we had Armstrong playing for us still or a striker who knows where the back of the net is,we would have got three points. But we're slowly getting there just need to be more clinical upfront.

Felt a bit sorry for the fox though as he was hungry but the Ibex were too fast and elusive,and to add to his misery he got divebombed by birds. As Attenborough said he was was having one of those days.We've all had them !

That was awesome again and wish it was on for two hours. The camera work is mind boggling !

A bloke put Rubber Bullets by 10CC on the jukebox recently,and it sounded good but disliked it when it first came out. As for Abba my dad who liked his music loved them but I couldn't stand them.He liked Jim Reeves and Perry Como so I was surprised he liked Abba !

Stereophonics are my sons favourite band. I listened to one of their albums and they're okay. I got my lad to listen to Hendrix,Stones,and Bowie when he was a teenager,and he loved all three !

That was my opinion on them till I saw them live. There doing an acoustic session on radio 2 and live on the telly,and its good. Might change your mind ?

Watching Simple Minds on the telly I saw them live at Milton Keynes Bowl years ago.My mate was into them but watching that concert I became a big fan of them as they were brilliant.Sometimes bands are better live than listening to them on your stereo etc.

I've never been a fan of Blur but really like Song 2 a record of theirs that's currently being played on a telly advert. Which got me thinking about other songs I like from acts I dislike. Like Crazy Horses by the Osmond's, which was a bit rocky from a cheesy group. Any other suggestions ?
