    SCG Meeting

Also, if you did want a big outdoors show in the Coventry Area, wouldn't you want to book the much bigger Ricoh Arena than the 12,000 seat middle-of-nowhere Timmytown?

    SCG Meeting

Two possiblities to my mind: 1) If he chucks enough mud around about things like fans being manipulated by PR companies, some of it might stick. 2) He really is paranoid enough to believe that SBT have been infiltrated/influenced by Weber Shandwick, despite there being little or no evidence...

    SCG Meeting

I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry, having read those minutes. ML sounds like an arse of the highest order. Is the SCG there to inform fans what's going on, or is it there to bully the Trust and accuse them of some kind of criminal activity? Interesting enough, Labovitch might want to be...

'Series of hotels' to be built at Ricoh Arena

It's a fair question this. It's obviously much more of a community-asset if there's a football team there, I'd say. I suppose the gym (if it's still there), and the fact that it's a half decent venue for live music on the small scale as well as the big scale is no bad thing. And it's not just...

    CT interview with ACL chairman

Blimey, has every thread tonight turned into a personal slanging match. C'mon fellas - lets discuss the issues here, there's some good points to be had from all sides surely. Fwiw, and back to the OP, I thought that it was a good article and interview. I want to hear that ACL's doing well...

    SCG Meeting

Agreed. It'll take no little courage either, like Torchy's efforts. All credit to you for doing it, I'd entirely accept that the extent of my protest has been staying away from Sixfields so it's probably a bit rich me asking others to do something more active!

    SCG Meeting

Fair enough. I hope you get better soon too, fwiw. We probably differ on everything, but we're still both Cov fans at the end of the day.

    SCG Meeting

And just to go briefly OT, did you try a protest or not Andreas? Obviously it's your choice whether to or not, but it's pretty poor if it was all just a wind up.

    SCG Meeting

I've not noticed any anti-Kev stuff here either. Thoroughly decent bloke in my opinion, I sincerely hope he recovers soon.

oh to be a cov fan

You missed out company law, football league rules (esp in relation to ground sharing and shadow directors), and forensic accountancy. Most fans have such boring existences, I mean, arguing about offside. But when you're a Coventry fan, you really get a chance to better yourself. :D

    Yes mate. That's not nice.

'Series of hotels' to be built at Ricoh Arena

For a mere £25m (I'll help BA out here, he seems to have forgotten). But the 32,000 seat Ricoh's only worth £7m, apparently. Mind you, small places in the countryside miles from anywhere can cost a bit more than large places in the City - maybe that's how it works. ;)

'Series of hotels' to be built at Ricoh Arena

Well I suppose we'll see when the accounts come out - although all those exclamation marks, maybe it is a fact and I'd missed it. Actually, if you'd have just said "FACT" or "END OF" at the end of your post, I suppose I'd have known for sure. ;) In the meantime, remind me again, how much are...

'Series of hotels' to be built at Ricoh Arena

I think that's more likely to be a valuation of ACL, the business holding the lease, at the point that SISU weren't paying any rent, rather than a valuation of the entire Ricoh (costing £118m to build with a decent slab of land for development). How much are SISU planning to spend on the new...

'Series of hotels' to be built at Ricoh Arena

Maybe if they were coming at it from the perspective of "it's a council idea and therefore crap", yes. Building a hotel or two at the Ricoh, or indeed at HR, wouldn't bother me at all. It doesn't impact in any way my ability to enjoy football there, and in fact if there were a few more decent...

'Series of hotels' to be built at Ricoh Arena

File under "right-wing think tank condemns council spending shocker". Until CCFC screwed themselves into a cocked hat I don't remember the Council ever wanting to build a stadium. I don't think they're exactly going into the hotel business either, more like trying to push along a development...

'Series of hotels' to be built at Ricoh Arena

I think you're missing the point mate, politely. The idea is that more hotel space around the Ricoh enables it to draw in more exhibitions. More accomodation on site, more exhibitions, more money. (More jobs too).

'Series of hotels' to be built at Ricoh Arena

So in other words, you haven't really done the research. As I recall there's been talk about a shortage of hotel rooms at the Ricoh for ages - long before all the hassle with the club broke out. And yet on the back of a fagpacket and a whole ten minutes research you and a few others here are...

'Series of hotels' to be built at Ricoh Arena

Erm... that'll be common sense backed by no evidence whatsoever and the "abundance of real time evidence" based on trying to book one room when there's nothing on at the Ricoh. From my personal experience, I know of at least one big corporate, Argos, who use the Ricoh for annual conferences but...

'Series of hotels' to be built at Ricoh Arena

Useful research. Though to make it actually worthwhile try getting a room at the Ricoh when there's a big event there, or a room anywhere within a reasonable distance of the NEC when something like Crufts is on there.
