We beat them all the bloody time at HR during that period and they were a very good team! So were we and never forget it. Coventry City beat Chelsea often....
The first game I recall was versus Fulham in October 1967 and it was a bottom of the table clash at HR and we got stuffed 3-0.
I went to a couple of games in the run in in division 2 but have no memory of either.
What I do remember as clear as day is taking a milk crate and being at the front...
We have never averaged 8k when playing in Coventry since the First World War. Yes in Northampton.
We averaged 10k in the early eighties due to the all seater stadium and hooliganism and general football disenchantment.
That doesn't take away from the point that as a city we are not as supportive...
In supporting your club you are categorized as "sheep"? Surely the desire of any fan is to ensure its survival?
Fighting to keep the club alive is the action you should be taking and the best way to do that is getting behind the team.
I AM SHEEP
I hope Andreu is going to be ok!
Sorry Johnwillomagic, but is there anybody else who gets irritated with the Meh's, the my bad's, the hollibobs?
Shows how far the English language has fallen?
Glad I got that off my chest.
Another striker who did well elsewhere but failed with us. Great header of the ball, limited on the ground. Tony Hateley was alongside a similar player in Neil Martin and it just didn't work. Once Ernie Hunt and then John O'Rourke went up top with Martin we started to unlock defences.
I am of the opinion that the biggest mistake our club has made (pre getting rid of HR and the road traveled since) was the disintegration of the early eighties side.
I bring this up as Irish Sky Blue rightly mentions Carr and Mortimer in the post above and along with them you can include...
And the NEC isn't closer to Cov City centre either.
It was me who said it was and according to google it is 11.5 to Coventry City center and 14.4 to Birmingham city center.
No apology necessary.
Because like Man City they could end up with a world class facility for very little outlay.
South Birmingham is their stronghold and although they are as attached to St. Andrews as we were to HR it may be a brilliant opportunity, just like it could be for us.
Looking at google Coventry City centre is nearer to the NEC than birmingham city center.
MetLife stadium in New York is double the distance from New York than NEC is from Coventry. 11 miles, if there is a chance to share then I say look at it and see if it's feasible.
The reason it didn't happen was that Allison announced it to his club, players and the press and Robbins didn't do his business that way and backed away.
Brian Clough was primed to join us but he used Robbins to get a better deal at Derby.
Robbins wanted an up and coming manager rather than an...
I want to disagree with you but on reflection I think you are spot on.
Derby County won the league during his time and it could have been us. Derby came up the season after us and finished 4th in their first season in Division 1 and won it in 72 season. We were buying players at the same value...
