I was in Talbot and Greene. Played for the school football teams and Cov Boys.We had some great teams then and won some trophies/medals. Football/rugby Cally were really good, although when we played King Henry at rugger we got thrashed !

First Ever Cov Match You Saw ?

All these first game experiences. Good idea for a book or similar ? Some great stories and memories. It doesn't matter when your first game was, in the 60's or just a few years ago, it should stay with you forever.

Riddys is a Cov legend shop. The stuff you could get in there was an Alladins cave. I would get vests, and they sold army haversacks, all the rage back then. Also Sweeney barbers was there too, to be in with the crowd that's where you had to have your haircut !

That was Riddys army and navy surplus shop. The pub was probably the White Lion ? Nearly next door to Riddys. That was a great shop, when I was a skinhead I bought grandad vests there !

That was when Blyth saved a last minute penalty to earn us the win. What a game that was one of the most thrilling ever !

I too went to Cally. Would play in the morning for the school team, then go to games in the afternoon. Great days !

First Ever Cov Match You Saw ?

My dad was a staunch Labour voter so loved that Wilson was there. Then again he said Blair would be a good leader so less said on that !

I was there that day too. And Harold Wilson was sat in the stands. He was a fan of them.

First Ever Cov Match You Saw ?

I should start a thread called First Violence At A Match ? I remember being really young at Highfield Road. We were playing West Ham on a Saturday and before it was the West End it was just the covered end. West Ham fans got in there early and were whacking our fans coming in. But a load of City...

First Ever Cov Match You Saw ?

First games are important. They can make you a fan for life, or be a turn off. I was lucky as I started going when Jimmy Hill took over, all I recall was win after win and Highfield Road packed !

First Ever Cov Match You Saw ?

I was asked recently what was the first City game I watched, and who were playing ? My late father took me to Highfield Road when I was a nipper, but can't recall much about the games to be honest. But the one that stands out for me was when we lost in the FA Cup to non league Kings Lynn. Jimmy...

    Sacked After Four Games

With De Boer getting sacked after just four games in charge at Palace, it got me thinking about short term jobs I've had. When I was about eighteen I tried my hand at being a plasterers assistant. I got the hod the wrong way round at my first try and going up the ladder ending up covered in...

Frank de Boer sacked by Palace after 4 league games

Terrible decision. I also watched the highlights and Palace played well. It takes more than 4 games for a side to settle into a new style of playing. Then again we should of got rid of Slade after one game !

What are you currently listening to?

My Rockblock was featured on Planet Rock on Saturday and to my shock again tonight at six o'clock. Same songs but in a different order ! But one of my choices was Keep On Running by Spencer Davis Group. For some reason they played Keep On Runnin by Anthrax. It was good though so no worries...

    Motson Calling It A Day

He was a good friend of Jimmy Hill and his tribute at his service was great. He could say some funny stuff when he commentates, but his love of the game and his passion can not be matched.
