What are the pubs like on Foleshill Road ?

Some regulars in there are now drinking in the Horseshoes.I asked on Saturday why ? They said its to do with the trouble in there v Northampton, said the pub owners or something didn't back our fans properly.

    Anyone else too polite?

Sounds like a normal day in Bell Green. The block of flats I live in are being demolished next year, as we're near to the shops and they're doing up the precinct etc. I'm well chuffed as I want a move anyway, been told as I'm sixty I can go for a bungalow. We get compo too so good news. Got yet...

    Anyone else too polite?

As I've got older I've gone more polite and mellow, compared to what I used to be like. If someone was aggressive to me they'd get it back, my temper got me in to loads of trouble. Had to have anger management sessions ! I was such a handful I saw a psychologist for nearly a year. But as you age...

What are the pubs like on Foleshill Road ?

Come down to the Three Horseshoes next door to the fire station. We are a friendly bunch in there, and the beer is usually good.

First Ever Cov Match You Saw ?

Who do you reckon are the most arrogant fans ? For me its cockney or Londoners. When West Ham and Arsenal used to come to Highfield Road in the 70's they'd swagger about as if they owned the place. No wonder there were so many fights when they were here, bet there still the same ?

First Ever Cov Match You Saw ?

When we used to play Newcastle you knew they'd have a big following. I used to drink in the Walsgrave club and on the Friday before the Saturday fixture they'd be loads in there. They'd come down to stay with relations as loads of Geordie's lived and worked in Cov. As I wrote before I loathe Man...

Got 2 CDs yesterday from a charity shop, U2's How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, and Ozzy Osbourne's The Blizzard Of Ozz. Both in mint condition and just 50p each. Both sound great and U2 especially.

First Ever Cov Match You Saw ?

Your dad sounds just like my late father at games. He was the strong silent type away from Highfield Road, but once the games started he changed and shouted at refs and if anybody disagreed he'd square up and want to fight. But once outside he'd calm down and when we got home he'd be all...

First Ever Cov Match You Saw ?

My son said to me : " why do I dislike Manchester United so much ? " It goes back to the 70's when we used to play them regularly. The West End got taken over by their fans, but in amongst them were so called Cov fans wearing red and white scarves. They got called traitors etc and were told to...

Caludon Castle (and other school) Memories

I'm ex Caludon Castle and went there in the sixties. When I was a pupil Tilley was the headmaster, with Cooke his deputy. That was the era of the cane and they loved dishing it out. You got it for minor stuff and when I missed a detention I was told to go to the house master, who was Mr Siddell...

First Ever Cov Match You Saw ?

I was at that game when the HUD got his debut hat-trick against Halifax. And strangely I saw George Kirby and Graham Newton also score debut hat-tricks for us too. We had real strikers back then !

Another fight on in the early morning. Remember when the great fights between Benn v Eubank and Minter v Hagler etc, they were on around nine o'clock at night ? Too early now even for postmen !
