JH and Garry Thompson - 1981

This was known at the time and Thompson didn't want to leave but it was the slippery slope that caused others to doubt our ambition and within 18 months most of the team were gone along with Milne and Sexton after him. Even Tommy Hutchison was advised to leave. Sky Blue Connexion was a factor...

Some stats we need to address

"It is the mark of an educated mind to entertain a thought without accepting it" There are some who believe that our strikers are going to come good. Over a third of the way through the season and absolutely no evidence to back that up. Is it the strikers fault? Possibly more to do with the...

    All the best for season

I prefer to go with the 'reckon' of someone who goes to games and when I do go I make my own opinion formed by what I am seeing in the flesh i get to watch the games on ifollow and it's a great service. That said I love going to games.

    All the best for season

I know its all about opinions and I try not to comment on games I haven't seen live but when I have seen Haynes for me he has been our best player in most of those games. I am sure at some stage he will be a midfielder/winger. I read on here that some think Jones is the best player in this...

    Butts Park ruled out

In a one horse town, in a one horse race we are in second place.

Cost of watching putting young adults of

I am not a youngster but feel that the product is more important than the price and I would suggest that if the product was better then the gates would be bigger. If you opened the gates with free admission you wouldn't get much of an increase with the dross we have become accustomed to.

    Andy Rose

Yes that's all very impressive but he never made the Motherwell squad did he?

    Dennis Wise

I wonder if we had Wise for the season would we have have been promoted?

Match Thread Coventry City - Mansfield Town Match Thread - Saturday 11th Nov

We didn't really hurt Mansfield after the initial stages. To be fair they didn't hurt us but when they scored they had been on top for a while. We never really laid a glove on their goalie.

Then you didn't watch the same game as me. Just my opinion.

If our team had done what you accuse Mansfield of doing we would have been applauding them.

Match Thread Coventry City - Mansfield Town Match Thread - Saturday 11th Nov

We didn't deserve anything but I am not sure they did either. The quality of the football is dire and we tend to sink to the level of the tempo the opposition set. This was the game I expected but hope it wouldn't be. Anyway on the next match......

We are putting the ball out of play too often but so are they. Both sides seem to be edging up the field by virtue of throw ins.

Stein gave us something we were missing and although not prolific chances came because of his presence. Anderson was top dog for a while before Stein and Hutch came and he needed support. It was the lack of goals in 74-75 that hurt us and Milne looked to change things and brought in Cross and...

We will never know but do you think he regrets letting Dublin leave to play football once he was fit? He stated Dublins attitude meant he had to let him go. He was superb, dedicated and a great guy in the dressing room but needed to be playing.

Huckerby was a fantastic talent but too easy to read. He had one trick and exploited it magnificently until defenders worked him out. He dropped his shoulder and cut inside and ran. He didn't do well at City or Leeds and found himself again at Norwich in the second division where he was...

Only three Sunderland fans travel to Checkatrade Trophy match

Newcastle had a very low turnout at Highfield Road after their relegation was confirmed in 78 I believe. Night game and there were low teens in the kop corner. I can remember a game st Easter 73 when we played Sheffield United at a 3 sided Bramhall lane where we took 1 red house coach and that...

Tommy Hutchison for me, possibly nostalgia plays a part. He was a great provider and a wonderfully fluid footballer who could twist and turn opponents with ease. From his home debut againgst Man City he was our talisman and made things happen for 8 great years, left too soon and I felt he was...
