OPen Letter Asking For Public Inquiry Over Wasps Deal

I really don't think it's appropriate to 'out' forum users like this. Are you prepared to stick your real name up here, for the record? For what it's worth I'm a Coventry taxpayer and I'd be happy enough to put my name to that letter, so that part of your argument is absolute rubbish too...

This does look a lot like the managerial stuff has taken focus away from the playing side. Having said that, I hope everyone gets behind Burge and he has a blinder.

I don't much like Waggott, but I've got to say that this is a pretty fair assessment imho.

OPen Letter Asking For Public Inquiry Over Wasps Deal

I don't see the logic of this argument at all. Is anyone really saying that as fans we're not paying attention to what SISU are doing to the club (or not doing) because of the request for more clarity on what the council have done with regard to ACL etc.? That doesn't stand up at all, just...

OPen Letter Asking For Public Inquiry Over Wasps Deal

Exactly that. There's no reason this has to be massively expensive, what you're looking for is a neutral arbiter with access to the documents and people involved. It's the sort of thing that the Local Govt Ombudsman does all of the time for individual complainants, and that service doesn't...

OPen Letter Asking For Public Inquiry Over Wasps Deal

If you mean more lucrative in the sense that the council will get more interest, then that assumes that the loan is going to be paid back. As we've seen, without Richardson chucking millions into Wasps, it's not a profitable business. CCFC is now apparently cash flow neutral - would opening up...

    Latest Wasps accounts filed

As it stands though, this is a business that relies entirely on the goodwill of a single investor to survive. Isn't that the case? If he pulled out tomorrow, and/or asked for repayment of the other 8.5m he's owed, Wasps is finished. I don't wish the bloke ill, but what if he falls upon hard...

OPen Letter Asking For Public Inquiry Over Wasps Deal

That's not quite true if it turns out that Wasps are actually a bigger risk than the council purported. It also ignores the fact that when the council bailed out ACL they told precisely the reverse story regarding its profitability in order to justify it.

This isn't a simple sale of an asset to boost council coffers though is it? The taxpayer still carries a big risk here, currently around £14m. If the Council had sold it's share in ACL and Wasps had also bought out the mortgage, then it would be a bit clearer. It still wouldn't mean that it...

    Latest Wasps accounts filed

Unless I've misunderstood it then, Wasps are reliant on a sugar daddy in the form of Richardson. This isn't a profitable or sustainable business unless he's willing to keep putting his hands in his pockets (currently) to the tune of at least a few million pounds a year. If for whatever reason...

OPen Letter Asking For Public Inquiry Over Wasps Deal

I see what you're saying, but isn't it a bit of a circular argument though (there's a posh word for this that I can't remember - tautology?). The council knew it was SISU, so they must have done everything by the book, therefore there's no point in an enquiry. Also, I wouldn't personally look...

OPen Letter Asking For Public Inquiry Over Wasps Deal

That's a very fair point mate - and we shouldn't forget the possiblity of JR2 either. The article says that sub judice doesn't really apply here, the argument being that unlike a jury a High Court judge cannot be swayed by media discussion. However I've got to admit that you can obviously...

OPen Letter Asking For Public Inquiry Over Wasps Deal

It's a bit tricky to investigate if the main player here, the Council, isn't answering any questions. The logic here seems to be that because the first judicial review failed the council can have done no wrong since then. Politely, that's not clear thinking in my opinion. There are some very...

Shock Horror: Tim found out again...

At the risk of being labelled a SISU apologist, I think it's possible that SISU could have been told that developing at Brandon was a non-starter, but that there might be some interest in a training academy (presumably elsewhere). I don't think those truths are necessarily mutually exclusive...

    Body slam - Worcester player

No argument here. If you're daft enough to kick a big bloke over, the smart thing to do is to at least apologise afterwards rather than chop off at him. But that tackle still isn't anywhere near as dangerous as that WWF move, imho. If you dump a bloke on his neck and back like that there's...

    Fisher: Support the team

I think that you could probably make the case that as the CEO you need to be able to watch the team perform to complete your duties properly - ditto manager, coach etc. As above, whether you could rightfully describe watching CCFC as a benefit anyway is debateable; has anyone applied for a tax...

    Body slam - Worcester player

The tackle is a whack on the shin on his non-standing leg - it's reckless and it's crap, and probably deserves a red, but there have been far worse ones even this week. It's also nothing like as dangerous as lifting someone up and then dumping them on their back and neck. The over reaction...
