    Leon Clarke Joins Bury

I would've had him back, but it could well be that he wanted too much (or for too long) for it to fit in with TM's budget. TM needs to sign more than one player over the summer, presumably. ;) Or he simply doesn't like him as a player. It's always a bit annoying to see players that you think...

Council sports chief didn't see key report before decision to close Pool

Nine billion pounds, the Olympics cost. £9,000,000,000. And yet we can't afford to keep an Olympic pool open. As for the council, again, what the hell are they thinking here? This is our money, and we deserve to know all of the options on the table. How can you make a decision this critical...

Council sports chief didn't see key report before decision to close Pool

This is what happens when they forget to leave the brown paper envelope on the table, eh. That'll learn 'em. ;)

What does this mean for us?

Erm... I don't think they are you know: http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/coventry-rfc-chairman-says-werent-9076482 It's pretty clear Wasps said whatever people wanted to hear in order to give them and the council cover when they bought the stadium - it didn't take them long...

    Investment rumour.

I doubt we've got the technical skills required for crystal meth, but there's a bit of space around Ryton where they could do some planting, if you know what I mean. Is drug cultivation allowable towards FFP, as long as it's done on club facilities I wonder? I'll check with the FL, I might...

    How badly must the club

In truth I wouldn't begrudge giving the club a bit of help if they needed it. However I don't really have any of those fixing-up type skills, and I think there's already a surplus of people available in the 'leaving snarky comments on the internet' area. ;)

    How badly must the club

Is it nitpicking to point out that there's no 'k' in 'nits'. ;) As one of the lads I used to play football with used to say, "There might not be an 'i' in team, but there is a 'u' in c**t!" :)

Come On The Old Five - Blog

Basically he said that CCFC are taking legal action against Wasps, which isn't really true. Wasps aren't obliged to even offer a defence in the JR, because it's not suggested that they've done anything wrong. However they are (or at least were) affected parties in that one of the remedies...

Come On The Old Five - Blog

No problem with people putting stuff out there, but it does come across as a little confused. The FL statements about progress, and the eight-mile radius, does that really apply any more. Does anyone think that the FL would stop CCFC building a stadium further out of town than eight miles...

    villa after maddison?

A lot of those are a bit before my time, but Babb I remember well. Are you saying that he had a chance to leave us but stayed and thereby improved his career, because I don't recall that?

    villa after maddison?

It is harsh, because I think there's an implicit criticism here that isn't true. Namely that Maddison is just a money-grabbing bastard if he leaves us, uninterested in making it as a footballer. To me that's entirely without nuance - it disregards the fact that he's in a profession where one...

    villa after maddison?

A bit harsh mate. Maybe first and foremost he's serious about making a living out of what is a perilous career. Like all footballers, he's one bad injury away from having to earn a living elsewhere. Staying with us for another season doesn't guarantee him success any more than does moving...

    Other income streams

Exactly as happens at Pride Park. Large commercial estate, football ground right in the middle. Seems to work, my office was based literally opposite it for five years and it didn't cause us too many problems.

No because that's a ridiculous as the pretence that there's nowhere to build a stadium in the whole of RBC's patch. Which I think we've shown is a bollocks argument, frankly. Whether it makes sense financial sense or not is a different story entirely, but I get a bit tired of people saying "I...

    Other income streams

We've been here before NW. I worked on a big industrial/warehousing/fleet movements site in Long Lawford close to where the Church Lawford airfield was. Plenty big enough to build a stadium on, and miles and miles away from the river, and about a mile off the A45. No floods there. (Edit...

    Other income streams

It's entirely relevant, but you're trying to say that it's impossible, perhaps because you'd like to believe it isn't going to happen. But it clearly isn't impossible. There are locations in RBC where a stadium could be built, and a few have been highlighted here straight off the bat. It's a...

    Other income streams

There are mixed/industrial sites with reasonable infrastructure that could be redeveloped in RBC, and some have been highlighted here. Politely, just because they don't meet your preferences in terms of location etc. doesn't make them unrealistic. I'm not for a moment saying that a new stadium...

    Other income streams

We've already mentioned sites around Long Lawford/Church Lawford too, that might be possiblities. Currently mixed industrial/warehousing, just off the A45. Regardless of whether we should build a new stadium, it's daft to pretend that there aren't places where a stadium could be built.
