SCG Minutes from 5th March meeting

No discussions, or no meaningful discussions? I think it's entirely possible that someone from CBRE might have had a ten minute phone call with a planning officer, regarding their thoughts on the possiblity of a ground in location x, or a training facility in location y, and that either not...

    The Givers and the Takers

Konjic as a giver too. The nicest player I've ever met, and the only man I've seen try to tackle the ball on the ground with his face. McGrath is my absolute hero, but Konjic is a man who understood bravery in every sense of the word.

    The Givers and the Takers

I can't have Telfer as a taker. He might have been limited, but he didn't half graft and put his tackles in. He pretty much cut Boateng in half, presumably to pay him back for going to Villa. Bellamy as the worst taker, for me - although not helped the mystery Strachan positioning of him and...

    The Givers and the Takers

Yep. Thank you, Bobby Gould - bless him, he had some daft ideas.

    The Givers and the Takers

I don't think that's quite fair Hobo. He certainly didn't look to try to play defence splitting passes or go on mazy runs, but he was quite capable of winning the ball and laying it off neatly enough to someone better equipped to do that work. As evidence, go watch that FA Cup Final DVD again...

    No scouts

Seems like we had four just over a year ago. http://www.coventrycity-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/city_upgrade_scouting_department_825947/index.shtml Did we stop paying them too? ;)

    Council Less Reid JLR CCFC

As someone who worked for Jaguar, and Land Rover, and JLR combined, and Rover for that matter, I've got to say that's not a view that I'd agree with. By the time Browns Lane was shut down, it had a quality and production record second to none. A lot of good, clever, hard-working people there...

    Too many games...

Without wishing to be unfair to Burge, you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. I can't remember too many keepers going backwards under Oggy's stewardship, unlike a lot of outfield players I can think of (many of whom clearly seem to have improved more at other clubs than they have under...

    Pressley suing CCFC

Mostly like ours, but with a lot more zeros at the end of some of the numbers? :)

    Pressley suing CCFC

I think that would only apply to a redundancy situation, which wouldn't apply here because we haven't made the manager's post redundant. But then I'm not a solicitor... so I could be entirely wrong! Either way, I'd agree that this probably won't be the thing that tips us back into insolvency...

    a Friday joke

Pavlov created an experiment where he'd feed a dog, and ring a bell or a buzzer at the same time. Eventually, the dog learnt that the bell meant food, and started to salivate before the food was presented. Known as a pavlovian or conditioned response. Being a drinker of a certain age, every...

    The Eclipse

I presume they've been sacrificing goats over in Leicester, this to make the sun come back. Couldn't find any virgins, obviously. :)

    Al Bangura signs

For God's sake, haven't we got enough midfielders in the squad now. I demand another striker. ;)

    Pressley suing CCFC

I'd be surprised if this wasn't pretty clear-cut. It's hard to imagine an employment contract that doesn't cover notice periods and suchlike - I'm presuming SISU are just trying to drag it out in the hope that he might settle for less. Unless the club really are completely broke, which I doubt...

    O'Brien back tonight

Personally, I think Haynes has got every chance of being a very decent player. It seems fairly well accepted that young players go in and out of form, and key to them progressing is to take them out of the firing line when they're going through a rough spell. When the pressure's off, maybe...

    Fisher on new stadium

The taxpayer is most definitely not away from this mess. If the Wasps thing doesn't work out then guess what happens to the £14m mortgage that the council holds? Who pays it? You're an intelligent bloke, why would you propound such rubbish. And Wasps have 'committed more to the community than...

    Fisher on new stadium

I agree completely with your first point - though there might have been some scope for a haircut it was never going to be for that much. I think it was SISU going behind the council's back to the bank on this that actually started the rot. Regardless if it had have gone through (unlikely), in...

Auditors query Coventry City FC as a going concern

I'm not sure I'd entirely agree with your opinion Tony, but it's certainly well put. I think the truth of it is that it would probably need new owners at the club for that to happen. I'm sure that wouldn't much upset anyone, regardless of all other opinions!
