    Wasps downward spiral...

"Let's get ready to Ru..... y Lopez" :) I had to Google that. I really don't have the patience for chess, or more likely the capacity. Draughts though, or complex strategy games like Ludo, I'm the unbeaten house champion. In my house. Anyhow, a little thread drift never hurt anyone, as long...

Indeed BSB, I'm not saying you're entirely wrong on it mate, and I don't want to fall out over it that's for sure. I think part of the reason you get the split at private/state school isn't just a class thing though, it's because state schools don't seem to have the resources (or perhaps...

    Wasps downward spiral...

And my modern comprehensive school experience says the opposite, with Neil Back, Danny Grewcock and Tom Wood all having pretty stellar careers (and a whole lot of other mates who played for local grassroots teams). None of them are exactly posh. At Coventry RFC they generally update the CCFC...

    Wasps downward spiral...

This isn't about football versus rugby and I don't get why people get so bogged down in that argument. It's possible to play and/or watch and enjoy either, both, or neither. And anyone who thinks it was always a sport for toffs doesn't know the history of the teams from the Welsh valleys or the...

    Cov RFC Season 21/22

Just beat me to it. Listening on CWR, sounds like a tight game. It'd be a tremendous result if we could win this one, Ealing are miles ahead in terms of resources of course...

Pete, this Government isn't trying its best to do anything other than gaslight the country to give the impression that we're all suffering equally and there's nothing they can do to help. The people in charge of the country are both criminal and corrupt. All that they're actually trying hard...

Can anyone explain the logic behind that 'removing the top' thing? I've never understood that.

That's a reasonable enough point, there's enough evidenced crime and corruption in the Tory party to go round without adding the unproven stuff to the list. Has it perhaps reached the stage where the party of law and order could just give us a list of those who believe it still applies to them...

The Birmingham thing hadn't even crossed my mind. It'd be progress of a kind I suppose, though they'd still be a bit too close for my liking and I'd much prefer they went back down south towards their genuine supporter base. (I notice that Brian O'Driscoll still calls them London Wasps!)...

That's the one. Appleton or something like that, perhaps? It could well be that in reality he's a really nice bloke who was doing the best he could, but there's something about that picture that leaves me thinking about zebra crossings and mistaking the accelerator for the brake pedal. :)

Fair point. In fact if you divide it by their average attendance I think they're in the hole for a million apiece.

Thank you, yes, I stand corrected. Though in fairness, when the club came back the Wasps deal was being done in secret, whilst in public the council were saying that they wanted to rebuild trust with the club before talking about selling the Arena. See also above re: lying liars lying etc. :)

Northampton first though, wasn't it mate? Or is that just in my version of the multiverse? :) Anyhow, whilst I'm venting, can I just add one more person to the no-fly list. That dickhead Administrator behind the "Golden Share" farce. When it's my shift on the pearly gates he's not getting...

For me Pete, it was pretty black and white. The council lied to everyone in the city about doing a deal with Wasps - that's CCFC, CRFC, and the public. Flat out lied. Said one thing, did another. Then they unanimously voted the deal through on three undertakings (red-lines, in modern...

The thing is though, that this is cost-push rather than demand-pull inflation. At the moment anyway, it's not driven by higher wage demands, it's driven by rising prices primarily because of Brexit impacts, and rising energy costs. Raising interest rates is a bit of a blunt instrument for...
