Robin’s isn’t great with young players. Added to that a poor start to the season and the combination meant that Mark was always likely to favour proven players to potential.

We had no choice but to sell him and we will never know whether we miss out on targets to replace him or not. It’s also clear from Robins comments that Hamer played the edges. The club clearly thought they had a chance to keep him but he jumped at the first opportunity that came along.

Spot on Maddison and Hyam felt like panic sales to keep the financial wolf from the door …. Hamer felt like good business.

We still don’t know what type of player Lampard wants or rates. Grimes and KKH were long term targets for the club by his own admission , and I very much doubt Brau is anything other than a calculated risk from the scouting team. hooefully we will know more over the next few weeks

Don’t be a pedant … he got 19 goals the season before last and I have no doubt would have got 20 had he stayed fit all last season. The point @Cally Fedora makes is a fair one.

If you apply that logic the only club who get fair market value are clubs who sell a player against his wishes. That is clearly not true.

I agree but he is relatively better than Wilson which is the crux of my point. Despite an off season last campaign Simms will still attract suitors and for a 7 figure fee. The same cannot be said for Wilson.

This isn’t true though is it. Just because a player would like to further their career at another club then it doesn’t follow that their fee reduces. I dont doubt that Mbeumo wants to leave Brentford for United or Spurs but so far Brentford have turned down 3 bids of over £50m …. 6 weeks...
