I don’t agree. If Sakamoto is picking up that man he’s going to be pinned in his own half all game. At the beginning of the play Lati is covering Grant, but gets told to pass him on.

Watch the goal back. For some reason Fadz calls Lati across to mark their #12, which leaves Sakamoto to cover Grant. Fadz and Lati end up a couple of yards apart both covering the same man while the cross bypasses them.

It’s not 1980 any more where everyone plays 44 fackin 2 with player roles set in concrete. You can get away with playing wingbacks who don’t defend much if your team is set up right. Look at TAA for Liverpool who plays in a 4 yet is one of their main creative outlets and is limited defensively...

Not sure you can blame Sakamoto too much for the 2nd against Cardiff. If your wing back is back in the box competing for a cross something’s gone wrong with the system.

He's certainly got the acceleration to go past a man.

Sakamoto hasn’t got pace? He’s the most obvious winger I’ve ever seen, plays all his best stuff with his back to the touchline

Signing a quality CM would've made this situation much better. Would soften the blow of losing Sheaf and allow us to shift Eccles wide to cover at RWB, where he was capable last year. I really hope we bring one in in Jan.

Godden - Wright/Simms Saka Dasilva - Kelly - Ayari - Eccles Kitching/Binks - Fadz - Lati Wilson That's what I'd like to see unless MR is working on a major tactical shift in training this week (he isn't).

Are they? I'd say it's the opposite, they're often wingers who get converted into a more defensive role. I want to see him play more, he looks electric whenever he comes on. Whether that should be at wing back or attacking mid I'm not sure.

Unless relegation is on the cards there's no way we should be sacking him this season. He's improved our year on year for 6 years now, one off season is due.

God we need a win on Monday now. Feels like this season will stat snowballing if not.
