Diamond, which is essentially what you’re suggesting, could be interesting. Pivots to a back 3 when required. My preference would still be to play 2 AMs and 1 striker, but don’t know if I’ve ever seen a system like that in action. A 41221 without wingers.

Beat his man on a few occasions on Saturday. Agreed that he can’t cross and it’s a waste of his skillset. We need to get the ball in front of Simms in the box.

Something to piss a few off , XG table

Don’t think you’re quite understanding the data. If you shot from the halfway line then it would still generate an xG, likely 0.01 i.e you’d score 1 in 100 (I think it just rounds to 2 decimal places as I think you could try that 100,000 times and maybe one comes off). If you’re on the line with...

Something to piss a few off , XG table

That was my hunch as well, thinking our xG might be inflated due to the number of long shots we take. Our xG per shot is 0.1, same as Ipswich and marginally behind Leicester (0.11).

But we’ve drawn the most in the league. Conceding just 2 less (0.125 per game) and scoring 2 more (again, 0.125 per game) would see us in 5th.

    Recruitment has been shocking

Can’t be arsed to go back and watch clips, but it strikes me that the best utility of his pace would be to play the ball in behind the defender and give him a raw foot-race. To do this, his starting position needs to be higher. So many instances of players not being as quick with the ball at...

That’s the way I read it as well. Think he was rushed back a bit (whether that was his choice or MR’s choice I don’t know).

Something to piss a few off , XG table

It’s an extrapolation of xGOT (expected goals on target). The basis of it is that an ‘average’ keeper would have stopped 2.8 more goals (obviously broken down into numerous fractions). My gut feel is that we’re conceding very few glaring chances, but when we do they are scored.

No, not evened out. Statistically towards the bottom of the pile this season with -2.8 ‘Goals Prevented’.

What needs to happen in Jan window

Obviously the recruitment ‘team’ have copped a lot of flak for the summer dealings, but ultimately I think our biggest investment should be into our recruitment team. We could really do with a multitude of roles/disciplines if we’re being run seriously. Genuinely wouldn’t be averse to throwing...

What needs to happen in Jan window

One word: value. We needed to sign 10+ players. No way we weren’t taking up some cheaper options as well as splashing out in areas. I know Latibeaudiere is viewed by some as a bit ‘meh’ but I think if he was given a prolonged run at RCB he’d look very good. As an aside, my formation preference...

What needs to happen in Jan window

Bit of a ridiculous notion given how poor the team has been overall. FWIW I would be having Binks on top 2 performers so far this season. Surprised he’s been out of the team the last couple of weeks.

Two best players in CM? Really? Even away from that, I think it’s now fairly proven that they don’t function well together.

Not usually his biggest fan but think Gallagher’s been excellent today.

What needs to happen in Jan window

Sinclair Armstrong would have been a great addition in the summer. Young enough to develop considerably, a lot of similarities to Vik in terms of playing style, quick AND strong. Goal return not the best at present but I think he could get there.

Partly poor implementation of VAR, partly an ever-updating list of laws which the general public has no idea about. So many pundits, players, coaches, parents at kids matches don’t know the laws. There are some quick-wins they should/could make with the technology - build in a margin of error...

    Side Hustles

Can be quite wild. I know a former BT engineer that started selling soft furnishings online as a bit of a ‘side-hustle’ (I hate that term). Business is now £5m turnover and very decent profitability. Wish I could tell you his secret - if I knew then I’d be doing it myself!
