Match Thread Coventry City vs Scunthorpe United Match Thread - Saturday 4th Aug

So many positives today despite the result. Two exciting young full backs with pace. Ogogo, Bayliss, Andreu would feature in most teams in this league. Absolute quality and a class above. The interplay for 70 minutes was of Championship quality. Willis is a top notch defender and we have...

Is a new Goalkeeper a priority

I agree with every word of this. Well said ISB.

Is a new Goalkeeper a priority

I watched all but a couple of games last season. I don't think it's fair to say Burgey lost us more points than gained. Keeper clangers I guess are always remembered far more than the great performances. Burgey had more than his share of great performances over the season.

Is a new Goalkeeper a priority

Burge was fantastic in the closing stages of the season. Notts County away as a good example. Even the very best keepers drop a couple of clangers over a season. It's the nature of the position. He's fast improving. We should back him. Get behind all the lads for the new season.

    Question for the historians

I wasn't. But I was certainly agreeing with your own suggestion that was the only way you'd ever get anyone rolling in the aisles given your legendary attempts at 'banter'. Nice ploy though - lose the argument and attempt to distract by writing something even more ridiculous.

    Question for the historians

You said it yourself - I totally agree.

    Question for the historians

A Total Idiot's Guide to the football season line 1 would read: 'The football season starts in August and concludes in May.'

Otis the king of bants. I bet you have them rolling in the aisles.

    Our finest point in history

That's a great question. We've had some great eras and teams: The Jimmy Hill revolution and promotions to the top flight. The fantastic attacking teams of the late 70s under Gordon Milne: Wallace, Ferguson, Hutchison,Yorath Blyth. Dave Sexton's young team in the early 1980s: Sealey,Thomas...

Notts County Second Leg - where does it rank?

Got it CC4Life and understand it's an individual thing. But whatever the result on Monday, I'm still going to remember last Friday as my favourite game for the total experience. And I've been to most of the biggest games over the past 40 years. Anyway like you, CC4 life and bring on Wembley!!

    Question for the historians

Have we ever played a game in the season later than the 28th May? I don't think so.....

Notts County Second Leg - where does it rank?

DDJ, we will! As you say it was the context of the game that was the key here. So many factors came together at one time.

Notts County Second Leg - where does it rank?

A very good friend of mine from Croatia watched the game on TV from afar. His first time watching the City live. He absolutely loved it. Couldn't believe the passion shown by the team and the fans. For him what he saw was miles better than the Cup final the following day or games in the...

Notts County Second Leg - where does it rank?

A week on...... I've been to some of the most memorable games over the past 40 years including, West Ham semi-final first leg, Man Utd. 3-2, last day miracle at WHL and 4-0 Liverpool in 1983. For me the Notts County game is instantly and already up there with the very best. The timing of the...
