Tim Fisher interview in The Athletic

Certainly no harm in building any kind of links with Loughborough... that is one of the elite sporting universities. Its one of the very top athletics/running unis and has an olympic academy there. Would do no harm in building some links with B'ham Uni either if it is possible, as they are...

Knocked out another 8 miles/2700ft on the fells this morning. As i started i noticed a very fit/fast looking runner climbing the ridge a couple of minutes behind me.... held him off for a couple of miles before he caught me... turned out to be one of the top fellrunners from Cumbria, and his...

quite chaotic few days running-wise. Bashed my elbow up whilst "looking after" my two nephews on thursday, was in total agony and supposed to have a 23 mile fell race today. Went out and did a 10 mile "test run" last night on the fells and decided i would do the race, but not be able to push it...

    Qatar World Cup 2022

I wanted Leicester to win the league..... as someone who grew up on the Villa rivalry, i really can't get on board with the Leicester hatred, and was happy for them to give a bloody nose to the "big clubs".... which given their attempt to destroy English football with the Super League, i stand...

I ran in the track league for Godiva today at Abingdon. 10:46 for 3000mtrs Strange at these short distances where the margins are small... i'd have been ecstatic with 10:40 or quicker, but unhappy with 10:50.... and i was only 5 seconds off either of them! Back to familiar territory next...

    Running

Start off at a pace that you think is a little too slow and you could easily maintain..... and then "change down another gear"...... will feel very easy to start, but will enable you to gauge the correct pace. If you want to be more technical about it, then run a 3km/2 mile effort as fast as...

club night last night with the new group... 5 x 1 mins 1 x 3mins 5 x 1mins all off 2 minute rests. 10.5 miles. Another club session to come on thursday.... will be my first time on the track with the new group, and no let up in the pace, as it will be 10 x 300mtrs

Raced the Welsh 1000 Metre Peaks race in Snowdonia on saturday.... this starts at the sea nr Aber Falls, and goes over all 5 tops in Wales which are over 1000 metres in altitude.... Actually, i ran the "short" race this year, which starts on the A5 at lake Ogwen, and only goes over the three...

    New Kit !

I like the idea, but the image somehow looks like it was cut and pasted together out of bits of different kits... especially with the sponsor running over the tramlines... That said, i'm sure it will look fine in the flesh.

Soupy Sam and the Toffee Lady

From a later era,, but i do remember some of the characters from the West Terrace in the 90's.... There was some posh student with a home counties accent, really loud, an absolute wanker if i'm honest but the main attraction was his absolutely stunning girlfriend (who never spoke a word)...

    Wasps downward spiral...

I originally had an account on lichess, which is where i hit 1850 (1870 to be precise)..... but although i liked the interface of the platform more than chess.com, i didn't really like the community... always seemed to be people trying to take-back moves, or just let the clock run down rather...

    Wasps downward spiral...

I have ratings from 1994-96 on there of 78D, 69C, 69D..... however these appear to be the "revised ECF rating"..... i would need to convert these to the "traditional ECF rating" (no idea how to do this), and then multiply that value by 7.5 and add 700, to get to an equivalent online rating...

    Wasps downward spiral...

Yes i remember the name well.... i actually emailed someone at Nuneaton a couple of years ago re entering into some local tournaments... but you apparently need to be registered and graded to play in them.... So its just been online chess for me. managed to reach a high of 1850 online, but...

    Wasps downward spiral...

I was in Nuneaton Chess Club as a young teen. Played Whoberley often. When i was at school the top three schools in the area were ourselves (Goodyers End, Bedworth), Good Shepherd (probably the one in Cov but i'm not sure), and Bentley Heath (Knowle)

    Running

Tough weekend. Ran in English Fell Champs at Tebay on saturday.... had a good run by my standards, finishing well ahead of people i wouldn't usually expect, including one or two who i can't usually beat in the cross-country leagues.... yet could still only manage 50th, 10 places and 4 minutes...

    Running

Best advice is to see a sports physio... Unfortunately in my experience yes some form of rest is needed. When i really suffered with it, i was able to continue training by minimising running, and switching to cycling and cross-trainer. A physio will advise best, but prevention is the best...

    Running

Yes its a lot quieter than the Cov one.... perhaps 150-200people instead of 5-600.... although being three laps instead of two, you still get similar issues if you're lapping people. There's a trail section on the two larger laps... down a grassy path and then through some trees, and a steep...

    Billy Sharp

haha i think i'd have been 14... and i viewed the on-pitch activities from the safety of the East Stand. My dad was staunchly against trouble at football... apart from the one time he came in the West Terrace with me and tried to get on the pitch to have a go at Chris Sutton!
