    Gyokeres Deal Details

Fair point. I remember Fadz making a right pigs ear of a penalty in an EFL trophy game so wasn'too surprised at him. Bidwell was the surprise, and if I remember right I think he got a knock just before the end of extra time, so he might not have felt too good physically. I'm sure there was a...

Road Closure A444 After the Match.

Could you take him to the casino after the game, then at least you should be able to stay warm until it clears and you can get a cab?

    Guess the year?

I think it was easier to remember players from back then because they stayed with teams for longer. Squad rotation was not a thing and most teams had a recognisable first XI. I reckon I could still have a good bash at naming the players from almost any team that was playing in the old Division 1...

    Gyokeres Deal Details

Technically you are correct, but mindset is ultra important in that situation. I remember a great quote from that day along the lines of 'Dabo walked up to the ball with the air of a man condemned to death'. His body language gave away his metal turmoil! I suspect any of Bidwell, Fadz or even...

    Who takes the next penalty?

I refer you back to Wembley. He is unlikely to ever face the same pressure taking a penalty as he did then. Pretty sure he also confidently put one away in one our lower league penalty shoot outs back in the day.

    Who takes the next penalty?

I imagine if Godden loses the job they will look to hand it to Simms or Wright to help build their confidence with a few more goals behind them, but I would like to see Eccles have a go. I understand he had a great record at U21 level, and the way he took the penalty at Wembley was very impressive.

    Transfer targets

I think Al Hammadi is someone that can play at a higher level than League 2, but the question is how high. At only 21 he must have a big upside potentially so I could see a Championship side coming in for him in January.

Match Thread Ipswich Town - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 2nd Dec

Unless my memory is failing me and without checking, I'm pretty sure he has made changes a few times at half time this season.

    Hamer back?

I've not been watching them, but whenever I see their match ratings he is at the top, so I think he is close to being their outstanding player. That probably doesn't count for much though when the team are having such a shit season. It also seems they are not playing him in the same role we did...

    Ex Player Watch

I just want him to be sold to whoever will pay the biggest fee, even though I do tend to agree that his career would benefit more from playing for another European team than a PL one.

    Recruitment has been shocking

Yes, for the moment, but he wouldn't have got in ahead of the Wilson that played last season. Otherwise you could probably make a case that this season's McNally would lose his place too, given Stoke's poor season so far.

    Recruitment has been shocking

Time will tell, but the only new player that would probably be picked ahead of any of last years team would be Van Ewijk.

    FA cup draw

Its a great draw. Winnable home game against a localish team from a lower division who should sell out their allocation. If we can only muster 7,000 to this game then frankly we don't deserve to progress, particularly if it is a 3pm Saturday game, which many of you have been bemoaning the loss...

    How much dosh?

Agreed, I think loans will be incoming, but that we'll hold fire until the Summer to buy players, when there is always much more to choose from than in January, and when many more panic induced poor signings are made.

    2nd december 1972

Yes, although he played more defensively for us.

    2nd december 1972

He wasn't an out and out forward though as I remember. Am sure many of those appearances would also be as a sub.

    2nd december 1972

This was my first season and had just signed Hutchison and Stein. We did really well until we got beat at Wolves in the FA Cup quarter final, from when on we fell apart.

One of many Scots we had. We sold to Leicester in the mid 70's. Like Craven I think he ended up in the States and also died quite young.

We going down the January window double barrelled name approach again then?

    FA cup draw

The Champions League was revamped to make more money for the richer clubs & UEFA themselves, not because of glamour. The likes of Ajax, Benfica, Real Madrid, Bayern & AC Milan brought plenty of glamour to the old European Cup. What the big clubs didn't like was having to win their domestic...
