Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

Hamer will be off to a Premiership team now. My worry is that this will give them the financial firepower to buy Rudoni, as I don’t want him going to a Championship rival. The only good thing might be if this drives up the price that Newcastle or another top division club pays us. It goes...

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

We definitely need a good quality goalkeeper in on loan for the season, probably a third choice from one of the top Premier League clubs. To buy a keeper of the quality we need would cost money we can better utilise elsewhere, bearing in mind the new man is likely to be the understudy to Dovin...

So, as I thought then. Thanks for confirming. The incoming instalments will enable us to go out and buy a player or players on a similar basis

    2025-2026 Season Budget

In the financial period ended 31st May 2024 the club made a net profit of £8,688,193. It would have been a sizeable loss but for the profit of £23,678,475 on player sales. It’s all here:

The chances are that whoever buys Gykores will pay the fee in instalments. I assume that our sell-on fee will be paid in the same way, so we will get 10% of each stage payment. It’s not necessarily such bad news as it sounds because no doubt we will pay our outgoing transfer fees in the same way.

    I’m pleased for him.

You were very unlucky but don’t be too downbeat

I totally agree but, having said that, I do think the Championship is an enjoyable competition. The standard is much higher than Leagues 1 and 2 and it is far more competitive than the Premier League. I just want to enjoy what we are doing at the moment until the time hopefully comes when we...

You were very unlucky but don’t be too downbeat

I think he is committed to his job with us and wants to do his best, no more and no less. I doubt if he feels the sort of “dyed in the wool” passionate commitment that we fans feel, nor would I expect him to. If he gets a more tempting offer from elsewhere then I expect him to be tempted and...

You were very unlucky but don’t be too downbeat

If/when we do get promoted to the Premiership I don’t want us to waste most of our windfall income in an unsuccessful attempt to stay up. It probably would mean buying a lot of bottom end/average premiership players who would be off when we are relegated. I’d rather we took a longer term view...

    Will we ever

It won’t be easy but then worthwhile things rarely are. I think it will be tough next year. We will have to contend with the relegated Premiership clubs, Sunderland/Sheffield United, the likes of Middlesbrough, Blackburn and Bristol plus of course Birmingham and possibly Wrexham. We probably...

Match Thread Sunderland - Coventry City Match Thread - Tuesday 13th May

I'd love it if MVE got the winner, to cheer him up after his howler in the first leg. It will put him in a better frame of mind for the final.

    Transfer Rumour Tyler Goodrham

He has been linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday, Birmingham, Derby or Derby. If Birmingham want him they will outbid us on wages.

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

I think the intention was for Rapha to be the cover, although obviously he hasn’t (yet) stepped up to the level. A decision needs to be taken about him. If we think he is capable of making the grade then we have higher priorities than having three right wingers. If we think he can’t then we...

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

I like Tyler Goodrham but I can’t see us matching Southampton on transfer fee or wages.

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

I would be happy to keep Binks, although I think he has been been better at LB than CB on the rare occasions he has played there.

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

Sounds about right to me. I will be sorry to see Sheaf go but isn’t his contract up next year? If so, it makes sense. I also like Allen as a squad player. He always gives his all and offers us something a bit different.

Match Thread Coventry v Sunderland Championship Playoff 1st Leg Friday 9th May

I wouldn’t write your chances off. Our form was poor towards the end of the season, even though we had all to play for. It didn’t surprise me that Sunderland dipped because you have been cemented in fourth place for a long time. I think that they will rise to the occasion for the playoffs, as...

Match Thread Coventry v Sunderland Championship Playoff 1st Leg Friday 9th May

That’s ridiculous though. I reckon it’s a 50/50 call. If we are at our best we can win but some of our recent performances, particularly against teams in and around the relegation zone, have been poor. We do seem to rise to the occasion against the good teams - of which Sunderland are one - so...

Match Thread Coventry v Sunderland Championship Playoff 1st Leg Friday 9th May

I'm starting to get nervous about Friday already! I think we have a very decent chance of getting to the final but, whatever happens, Frank has given us an exciting end to the season. I certainly didn't expect that at the time of his appointment. 👍
