Agree with a lot of this. Solihull (Touchwood) is light years ahead of anything in Coventry. Somehow Leamington has mamnaged to maintain a charm and individuality that attracts shoppers. How has Coventry fallen so far behind?

Agree!!!! So many people don't know how to use the ring road properly. My misses still refers to the outside lane as the "overtaking lane" threby justifying her decission to drive around on the inside lane!!

Sad to say but the centre of Coventry, for the most part, is a shit hole. As a Coventry Kid it breaks my heart to admit it. Have never understood how a city with so many historic buildings within its actual centre, can allow those buildings to just sit and rot. No other city in this country...

Years ago got cut up on the ring road by Alan Brazil. Probably didn't understand the 'Coventry Ring Road Etiquette' of filtering on and off and not being a pushy bastard!!

Couldn't agree more. The people who have allowed the city centre to develop the way it has have a lot to answer for. As a child I remember the centre of Coventry being really nice, the precinct full of interesting shops and the whole place had and sense of purpose. That all seems to have gone...

Makes sense. Remember working at Coventry Climax in about '86 and one of the gaffers telling the union rep that the land on the other side of the canal, which the Climax was at that point sited on, was all earmarked for canalside development.

Does anyone know whats going on in the bit of land by the side of the ring road next to the fire station at the Radford Road junction? As you go down the slip road to the island you can just see that there has been an enormous hole dug. Also the old city Engineers site on the Foleshill Road...

I suppose that what ever Jimmy Hill did, most people would accept that he did with the best interests of the club at heart. The current owners have another agenda that they will persue at whetever cost to the club and fans.

Think it was Jimmy Hill who invested a lot of the clubs money in the US footbal league, only to see the bottom fall out and CCFC with a huge debt. Did the club have some tie up with Detroit Express?
