    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

Noticed the other day on twitter the owner of a string of local care homes was kicking off about the current crisis. Wasn't complaining about sick people being moved in or his staff stuggling to cope with the extra work or them not having the PPE required. His only complaint was that they should...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

The rumour that's spreading on social media seems to be first matches June 6th. Although that could just be recycling what was said a while back. Remember someone claiming they'd seen Max out running and he'd said 25th May back in training. There was then some media stories saying a June 6th...

Yep they said he basically did what he wanted on and off the pitch but Robins but up with it as he was a class above at that level. They also suggested that's why he was struggling to get games. Move up a level and you can't get away with it as you're no longer a class above everyone else so its...

Exactly. If the 5% thing is right then even if you had some miraculous way to get everyone test once 95% of the population are going to need repeated tests. We've made such a mess of this that we're been left with no safe way out of it. The question of course is was it just incompetence or was...

Antibody tests are a positive no doubt about that. However do we actually have confirmation that if you've had it once you can't get it again. I've read varying reports on that so confirmation would be good. Now assuming you can't get it again there's over 31 million people in work in the UK...

    Another Telegraph anti CCFC story

Tickets for Lincoln were £26 and Accrington was £20. If you were going to both games that's £46 not hundreds. Unless the suggestion is we've got loads of fans that buy extra tickets and give them away for free. Sounds more like Wasps ticketing strategy than ours.

Maybe I've got it wrong but I was under the impression that unless furlough was already covered in your employment contract it will be a change of contract terms. Employers can't dictate those changes, they have to be done by agreement. Now for me and you there's little option, if we say no...

I do comprehend the financial issues for clubs but I'm not convinced the 'take your ball and go home' approach will work, it seems an empty threat to try and get their way. That plan relies on the PFA, EFL and FA standing by passively. Also means owners accepting the risk of losing ownership...

You've answered your own question there. We need a safe way out. The day lockdown was announced there were 967 new cases and 74 deaths, the day the easing of restrictions was announced there were 3,923 new cases and 268 deaths despite Johnson conveniently picking the Sunday of a bank holiday...

Bowlers back in training at county grounds next week, other players two weeks later. Not entirely sure why there's a two week gap but at least things are moving forward. Jimmy Anderson was speaking the other day saying the players are looking to get back on the field ASAP and the authorities...

EFL to end season this week - City likely to be promoted

Before anyone gets too excited several clubs have already spoken to their local media and indicated tomorrow is only a meeting and they have not yet received any notification there will be a vote on if and / or how to end the season.

Wouldn't that just mean the EFL doing what they did to us? Not letting clubs back in, even without a CVA, until they agree to pay football creditors?

That was last Friday (626), last Thursday was 5,614 new cases and 539 deaths. Hopefully we see this trend continue for the next couple of weeks but I can't see how we're not going to have a spike then. Question is how big will that spike be.

    Wasps downward spiral...

Was listening to a round table with some economists discussing the current situation and the financial issues we'll face. They were talking about the companies likely to go under early on and it was pretty much a perfect description of Wasps. Companies which are running at a loss and have their...

Would also be a PR problem. If everyone else is being pushed back to work and you've got rich footballers refusing to play that doesn't look good. Even at L1 level the average weekly wage is a lot higher than many people who are being told they should be back at work.

They even admitted that when they described the Wasps Group as a property development company that happens to have a rugby club attached to it. Of course certain sections of the local media and their fans decided to ignore that.
