Lotto Couple Robbed just after their win

Enough for me, at my age etc. etc. :) Not enough for a carefree life if you are 21.

    Oh Jeremy Corbyn

I'm not discussing things with you if you are going to be disingenuous.

    Oh Jeremy Corbyn

He said this after the manifesto had been published.

    Oh Jeremy Corbyn

Here's a link to McDonnell's Wealth Tax ideas (video within the article): Revealed: Labour would grab 20 per cent of assets from Britain's richest people if elected 20% from the savings of the 10% most wealthy in the country. That would hit people with wealth of just over £1m. Article: Main...

    Oh Jeremy Corbyn

Oopsy, you missed off the end: “And I don’t see why those that had the historical misfortune to be at university during the £9,000 period should be burdened excessively compared to those that went before or those that come after. I will deal with it.” And you missed off the Imran Hussein...

    Oh Jeremy Corbyn

No he didn't commit. However he implied, inasmuch that someone might easily have believed from what he said that he would wipe the debt. I don't get the attention this is attracting. Even if he intended to deceive (and I don't believe that he did) he won't be the first or last politician to...

    Oh Jeremy Corbyn

Not my memory. I recall him saying that he would 'deal with it'. Not that I'm too worried by this; in fact I'm glad that when he saw the numbers he reversed his position - shows that there is at least some sense of realism there.

Lotto Couple Robbed just after their win

I was thinking about the lottery last week - with the record prize and all that. I seldom buy a ticket but I did that week and started thinking about what I would do if I won. I'm with Otis. £1 million would be more than enough for me to stop work completely, move house (more than anything...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Of course she has; that's her job. Stopping Brexit may well be best for Germany; the EU have had ample opportunities to reform so that the EU works for everyone and they have declined to do so. Had they made more of an effort instead of assuming that Britain would stay, then I don't believe...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

They are playing extreme hardball, I imagine believing they are so big that they can railroad over everything. The media is moaning about lack of progress and some are leaping on the opportunity to rubbish the UK or using it for political ends (me and my ragtag bunch of innumerate Marxists...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Don't know if it has been mentioned on here (drifted away as everything became circular). Merkel gave a talk to German industry recently and said that she would seek the deal most favourable to Germany. Although this should be bleeding obvious, it's good to hear her say it.

Sorry Ian, I appear to have come across the same news story. Wasn't following this thread recently so didn't see your post until I had replied already.

    Oh Jeremy Corbyn

The IMF has recently issued a report on higher tax rates and inequality. It was reported in the Guardian and seized upon by Labour to justify hiking tax rates. IMF: higher taxes for rich will cut inequality without hitting growth The Guardian report doesn't contain any untruths. However it...

    Strachan left Scotland job

My mutual consent. Has he ever had success as a manager? Such a fantastic player, but doesn't seem to have the ability as a manager.

Match Thread Accrington Stanley - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 14th Oct

Most of the top clubs have tricky games this weekend: Luton have Stevenage; Exeter and Wycombe play each other as do Mansfield and Swindon. If we can win this one then we could jump in the league.

    Kazuo Ishiguro

He's one of the new young writers of the 80s who all write in a similar style: Ian McEwan; Martin Amis and Salman Rushdie. I believe they are all mates. I think I have read all of his books apart from the new childrens' one about a giant. Most people will have seen the movie "The Remains of...
