    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

3 years from the start, which would seem about in line with past pandemics, or 3 years from now?

    Units of alcohol

Don't think I've had a drink since we first went into lockdown. Didn't make any big decision to be a non-drinker just don't see the point sat at home on my own! Quite tempted to not bother again, don't really miss it.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

But issues with things like covid, Russia's control on the supply etc as detailed in the articles apply to all countries not just the UK so what is so different about us? I've looked for reports of other governments in Europe having to reassure that there will be enough food and the power won't...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Is what's happening here also happening in Europe? I assume not given the reports that NI are OK as they can get supplies from Ireland. If its not Brexit why is the increase in wholesale price impacting us more than elsewhere?

    Derby points deduction

Why do Derby and now Reading get to negotiate their points deduction with the EFL? Have I just blocked it from my memory as I don't remember that being an option for us either time they took points off us.

While we're on the subject. Completely agree with this.

    Gas and co2 crisis

Sure any loans will be made on a commercial basis and the government will ensure they have sufficient security to ensure they are paid back in full. "not clear yet what subsidies or incentives the government has offered" doesn't fill me with confidence the taxpayer isn't on the hook there as well.

    JSB Ticket Help

Your solution for someone not being able to do something, which it turned out they could actually do, is for the club to stop selling tickets online? Seems a slight overreaction. The club don't own the site, they use the eticketing platform which is a Ticketmaster backend customised with our...

    Anti-SISU

I suspect it was a convenient excuse for people who didn't fancy some of the complete shit we saw in L1 and L2. The number of people who were genuinely boycotting anything was probably pretty low. Not to say that SISU weren't unpopular obviously but you generally don't see protests against...

That is a huge stretch any way you look at it. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation donated $53,501 to factcheck.org. RWJF holds stock in J&J.

Do you apply this to everything or just covid vaccines? If you were to get ill with something other than covid would you refuse all medication and ignore any advise from pharmacists, doctors, nurses, consultants etc?

The guy who won the Nobel prize for his coding? Why would you believe him over those who are experts in the actual area in question?

Out of interest if you don't trust the experts and the science why do you believe someone like Yeadon?

    Gas and co2 crisis

Wonder how much the shareholders will actually be hit. No doubt there will be some complex ownership setups which mean the shareholders enjoy the benefit of any profits but when it all goes wrong the taxpayer has to provide a bailout. Energy supplies to the consumer are guaranteed so if any...

If its not at Loftus Road does that mean no free stream like they've done in the past?

    Shipley in the pecking order

Not sure I buy the can't be bothered or unfit idea. Robins hasn't exactly been slow to bomb players out and Shipley has played well over 100 games over the last 4 seasons and had his contract renewed / extended. Think its more a case that our progress as a club has occurred quicker than his...

    Shipley in the pecking order

He's useful cover in the squad but not sure you'd want him playing 90 minutes too often. Is this the last year of his contract? If so he'll probably have to look to move on in the January window.
