    Matty godden

I will give you odds of 10000/1 that Godden doesn’t get a third successive league hat-trick this weekend. Anyone that wants. ;)

    Sunderland for sale

Your hope so, but you’ve seen this place after 2 defeats. Imagine after 8 defeats and bottom of the league. Actually don’t think we’d be that bad even with the current squad, but there’s always the chance.

    Sunderland for sale

Not necessarily, would depend on the contract length and structure. If in your scenario (if I’m understanding correctly) we got promoted, trebled our wage bill but didn’t have relegation clauses and had a squad full of championship salaries on 5 year contracts, then we’d be screwed if we dropped...

    Sunderland for sale

Yeah, it gives a flavour of the difficulties clubs face when they try to set wage bills, contract lengths etc etc. You need to plan a year or three in advance but don’t know which league you’ll be in. One thing I did take from that article was that we are certainly at different stages of a...

Bit more on their finances here which explains why their wage bill will be limited to ‘only’ about 16m this season. Gets more interesting for them the longer they stick around in league 1: SCMP: The daunting financial challenges facing Sunderland this season - what’s the issue & why?

We tried to take the last one miles from where the foul happened tbf, and he blew before we had the advantage, but yes. Overall he’s been miles better than recent ones though.

Haven’t read through the thread, so if it’s already been said apologies — but I’d like to compliment the ref on actually being a referee and doing his job.

    JSB Christmas Party

Yeah we noticed he was pretty much the only face missing. Make of it what you will. Would echo what others have said about the players, all of them (pretty much) were great with my 11 year old. Special mention to Marosi who was particularly chatty and when I pointed out he had led my son out...

Match Thread Shrewsbury Town vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 14th Dec

What were your thoughts on today’s referee? Agree with him watching McCallum on the floor for 2 minutes and then blowing his whistle just as Shipley was about to shoot? How about when he then have their keeper the ball to restart? Is that what the rules say? Or maybe the second yellow for...

Match Thread Shrewsbury Town vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 14th Dec

Our performance aside, how are we getting so many referees that are so bad? It’s beyond normal ‘fans moaning’, it’s literally cost us multiple times this year, and then we get fucking charged by the FA, should be the refs getting bollocked. Humph. Oh and Robins out (just kidding).
