    U18/U21 Development Thread

Jordan Ponticelli has been playing for the Strachan Football Foundation/Rugby Town youth team. He scores the 3rd and 4th goals in this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UICEn9qy6ds

    Carl Baker

I'd much rather Baker join in the summer than a loan player who doesn't know where Coventry is on a map and won't fight tooth and nail to get promotion.

    How do you bet?

It's not proper betting but I've started playing Draft Kings and that's really fun. And you don't even have to deposit money to play in some of the bigger leagues.

U18s v Arsenal at the Ricoh

Just watched the highlights and have to say, I cannot blame the Arsenal players at all for cheering in front of the City fans. Chants of "What the fucking hell was that!", "You're shit and you know you are", "you're fucking shit" and "Who are ya, who are ya!" during the penalties, directed at...

    Questions For Tony

Arsenal bought a stats company for £2m a couple years ago. It's how they do most of their transfers now, with Gabriel and Elneny in particular. Statistical analysis is how football is going now, so if we have one of the forerunners in the subject involved in our transfers, I am all for it.

We have 20 players out of contract in the summer

Hopefully, Lawton doesn't get released in the Summer. Feel like there would've been no need to sign Rose if he had managed to stay injury-free. On the overall point: Obviously, we all would love to see us sign more exciting, promising players in transfers and on longer term deals. But we don't...

    Telegraph Piece

“The decision to sell a player is made after the careful consideration of a number of factors that have to do with the financial situation of the football club, the needs of the manager to field the best team that our money can buy but also the wishes of the player,” said Anderson. “In the case...

    Maybe stemming the £6.8m losses.

    Telegraph Piece

Interesting to note in part two of the Anderson interview that he effectively says that Maddison himself pushed for the move to Norwich, rather than Spurs or Liverpool.

Who's next off the production line?

It would be nice not to have to rely on loan players for once though.

Who's next off the production line?

Why do we HAVE to follow this style? For once, I'd like to see us follow Peterborough's method: - Sign promising player from lower leagues - Develops well and attracts interest from higher-league club - Sold for profit - Money used to sign two more promising lower league players

FA Youth Cup tonight v Stoke

We have to give some credit to SISU for forking over the money and making/keeping the academy a Category 2. Probably the 2nd best decision they made behind signing Mowbray.

    City rejects??

Didn't Nathan Cameron win player of the season for Bury last year? I know he struggled when they came to the Ricoh, but I'd take him back when Ben Turner leaves in January.

    Andy Rose

He's hardly a standout player for the Sounders. Good and solid in central midfield but nothing special.

    Rcc

It is a deflection though, and he has a fraction of a second to move his hands and change his positioning. It's unfortunate more than it is bad play. Are you really trying to say that Charles-Cook has made the decision for the entire defence to play out of the back? And not Mowbray?

    Rcc

Just watched the highlights and can't believe RCC is getting so much stick for the first goal. The ball clearly takes a deflection off Stokes(?) and changes its direction. You see RCC having to move his hands at the last second, which is why the ball squirms away. Yes, he could have done better...

    Living Wage in Football

Looks like Matt Joyce - the guy who got the Club Journalist job last time it was advertised - has decided to leave. https://twitter.com/MattJoyce92/status/670295832231546880 He was in the job for just over a year. That says a lot!

    Living Wage in Football

The crazy thing is I would absolutely take that job. It would mean a £7k-a-year pay-cut, moving back in with my parents in Coventry (I'm 22, it wouldn't be that weird ha) and I'd go from being Co-head of U.S Editorial at a pretty big website to the bottom rung of the ladder, but i would love to...

    Living Wage in Football

It's either that or someone who has worked for free or as an intern during uni. This is just me moaning and airing my gripes, but it is insane that working for free for a club - essentially doing the bitch work - is more preferred than someone who has worked for a major paper or national website.

    Living Wage in Football

Pretty much, yeah. But it takes about two hours to learn how a CMS works. Genuinely such an easy thing to do.
