Transfer Rumour Confirmed - Bradley Collins

I think McNally, Doyle McFadz with BNC and Bidwell in support just might be the main reason for the clean sheets. Much as I love the Ben Wilson back story, and he will forever have the memory of season 22-23 (including his goal), he never at any stage made me feel confident of anything except...

    SIGNED!!!! - Tatsuhiro Sakamoto

...a further thought. We may have been a bit fortunate in the last two seasons. Because Covid so affected revenues for all clubs, our low budget model with an established squad was more resilient compared to otherwise better funded clubs whom you might think capable of 'buying' promotion -...

    SIGNED!!!! - Tatsuhiro Sakamoto

The potential Gyokeres money rather than Dave King money is making the difference, although he does appear to be letting us keep most of it, unlike SISU. However these two new signings represent a clear break with previous purchasing strategy, so has risk, Look at the squad that finished last...

Match Thread Confirmed Ins and Outs 2023/2024 Summer

I am not one to panic on this. 'Getting the business done early' is just a meaningless cliche. We have had plenty of last minute purchases do well from the off. These are professional footballers who know the ropes. BUT It does seem awfully quiet. Not a sound. Now it might all be pending the...

You hold your breath every time the opposition win a corner. The clean sheets down to addition of McNally to Doyle & McFadz to make a very strong back 3.

    Jay DaSilva Signs!

What??? McNally Doyle BNC were all very good or good. Panzo and JWE ok. What's your problem? It was the introduction of the loans into the team in Jan that kick started the second half of the season

    Eccles

....and I think Eccles is a super player with a good temperament, who is best in a holding role. Reminds me of Ray Wilkins in both a good and bad way.

    Eccles

Happy to oblige. Nick's post is at the acceptable end of the spectrum as he at least makes no attempt to seem morally superior for changing his mind. Quite the reverse....

Match Thread Middlesbrough vs Coventry City Play off Semi final 2nd leg Match Thread - Wednesday 17th May

It feels like Hamer has almost singlehandedly dragged us to this position. I just think of 'journeyman pros' like McFadzean and Allen playing for Burton Albion, or Wilson - permanently on the bench. What must it feel like for them? Or even the young lads like BNC, Doyle & McNally used to...

Match Thread Middlesbrough vs Coventry City Play off Semi final 2nd leg Match Thread - Wednesday 17th May

I was at the Newcastle match. 2-0 down in 10 minutes, pulled one back straight away, then Gibbo equalized after 25 minutes. They went to 4-2, before we again pulled one back - Rees iirc. Lost, but a cracking match.

    And So It Begins

"But you have to remember that we as a club are much higher up the football league, and so it's more difficult for youngsters to break through" That is a platitude and anyway did not apply in league 1 nor to other clubs whose youth players do come through

    And So It Begins

Yes I forgot him. But again only because of an injury crisis and he did not impress. Anyway that is just 'whataboutery'. Can anyone seriously argue that our youth programme has produced much in 5 years. The key measure is the number of players coming through to the first team - winning Youth...

    And So It Begins

I mentioned eccles as the only one in 5 years, and they are only in because of injury other players. It also looked as tho Robins had little faith in Burroughs.

    And So It Begins

...our youth set up is clearly not good enough. Has not been for ages. Nee and Burroughs were supposed to be two of the best prospects but they are clearly not up to scratch. Youth set ups are a long haul - look at the time these boys have been with us. If it is sorted out now, we will not see...
