For all the scorn of the Tory/libdem coalition what it did succeed in doing was have some success in moderating legislation and Govt. PR would only be effective if the number of serious parties increased and for that funding rules need reexamining. With just 3 main parties we're going to have a...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Both the 2 main parties committed to respecting the referendum at last GE. Labour up until the last few weeks were still committed as long as it was in line with their own deal. A position backed by their 2017 party conference after the GE. At least most of their leave mps have had a fairly...

Not a Tory. Time spent involved working with politicians (of all political hues) at the beginning of my career put me off party politics. If you do back as far as gmk then you'll remember some of the stories. Where do we go now? Somewhere we'll end up by default. Probably a fudge that nobody...

Again it's fine but let's call out these remainers who backed the parliamentary vote for a referendum. Again 544 to 53. Wasn't 544 brexiteers in that vote.

obviously not. decision to hold a referendum passed through the Commons 544-53. not even close. if all the Oppostition parties and just a handful of Tory remainers voted together then they would have had the numbers toblock all sorts of things since last GE. But when the largest Opposition party...

don't oversimplify it -6 out of 10 Labour constituencies backed a Brexit - just behind 7 out of 10 Conservative.

whichever side eventually gets its way this won't be forgotten either by the public or within Parliament for a long time. And unfortunately (if Brexit is overturned) we will see scenes and witness acts of stupidity that will sadly make it an even more infamous period in British history. Seldom...

Top-line: just like in Parliament, the public have a much better idea of what they don't want than what they do want. Every outcome is more unpopular than popular. John Burn-Murdoch on Twitter Still sums it up

Argument is Leavers expect Govt to fulfil their stated obligation so not signing. If (or when) that changes then Leave petitions will pop up everywhere. We'll get the usual numbers games and if petition doesn't pass the original Remain vote some people will be claiming it shows remain vote has...

Passed that number would have no choice but to vote on it at least. Even then they'd be pressed to put it to the country. No politician/party is brave enough to ignore that level of support for fear of later electoral backlash. Gets to around 5m and parties will be paying it lip service whilst...

Whilst I understand MPs are upset with May's speech they need to refocus on the issues rather than on May and her behaviour.

parliament ignored last 2nd referendum petition which had about 2,5m. Media already writing off Revoke petition as original remainers, londoners , students and possible 3rd country involvement. Balance is if Revoke became the likelihood the no deal petition would gather speed as well.

Interesting article with Andy Holt - State of Lower Leagues Finances

Only going to get worse. PL drawing so far away from rest of football. Have to question the financial management of PL clubs. Getting drawn into completely overvalued transfer deals and overinflated wages. Wasn't the Sanchez deal for Utd an obvious red flag on what it was going to cost them...
