Managers rarely criticise managers. Look at Robins pre match comments almost every week. Always talked up what a good job the opposition manager had done at the club, what a good squad of players he had built etc etc I would not read too much into managers comments. They play the game.

I find it odd that fans assume King wouldn’t pay compensation for a manager. Whatever the criticism he gets it’s hard to say “not investing” is one of them.

Why does it ? It’s more important to get the decision right. Get the right support team agreed etc.

Managers under contract don’t come to be part of a short list … they only come for an interview if they are nailed on for the job. If they are unsuccessful in the interview they have also burnt their bridges at their existing club
