    Wasps downward spiral...

Interesting theory, hadn't thought of that. Given the potential hole they're in I wouldn't have thought the lesser European competition would make that much difference, but I guess it's possible.

    Who is Grendel ?

Didn't make any comment as to whether it was nice or not. Just said I could see what Nick was getting at. The 'nice' thing is entirely in your head. I thought it was worth adding my opinion, especially since others differ.

    Cov RFC Season 21/22

Must confess that I'm really surprised at that. He's been at the heart of the club for a long time and is much loved. Just seen that they're releasing 14 players in all, plenty more big names in there too, Dacres, Fenner, Boulton for example. I knew about some of those, particularly the...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

I'm not sure that either side 'win' in the short term. My gut feel is that we'll enter a period of to and fro in the east of Ukraine, which may well last as long as Putin is in power. Ukraine won't quit, that's for sure. The south I'm not so sure about, I think that might come down to logistics...

I think we used to get more for the reserves, at least in the days they played at HR.

    Who is Grendel ?

It's not about offering an alternative viewpoint, I'm entirely open to that and I agree that it drives debate. It's about the way that he goes about it, which is generally a brief, pithy comment, typically followed by a long period of deflection and the usual insults, all offered in a similar...

All was OK assuming Wasps represented their financial position to their auditors honestly. To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, to lose one set of accounts might be regarded as misfortune, to lose two looks like carelessness. 😄

    Wasps downward spiral...

No well run business finds itself on the end of a winding up order (edit: sorry, striking off order, I'm getting ahead of myself here!), or suddenly finds it can't pay a debt which it promised to honour a matter of weeks earlier. I'm not saying that this is the end for Wasps, but quite...

    Who is Grendel ?

I'm kind of with Nick here, I don't think threads on individual posters are a good thing. Personally though, just to offer the alternative view, I think he's an unnecessarily unpleasant and endlessly arrogant low level troll. He rarely posts more than a couple of sentences, and then usually...

    Willis and Burge

I've got no great issue with either of them. It's a short, risky career, and whether they chose to leave or not, I wouldn't really blame anyone for doing so if they could secure better terms elsewhere. Wouldn't most of us do the same?

Top tip: Any time you get a laughing emoji from Grendel, you know you're onto a winner. Putting him on block was undoubtedly the single best thing I've ever done here, but it's great to know that he still reads my posts even though I can completely ignore his inane trolling. Anyway, "Sir Beer...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I really don't get this. The law was absolutely unambiguous and the people in charge of the Government were on television almost every night telling us how important it was to follow it. The way to avoid a FPN isn't to use luck, it's to follow the law. If Sunak or Johnson felt unfairly treated...

If I was him I'd be in a cold sweat every night given all of the vagaries around this. The phrase "whistling in the graveyard" comes to mind!

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

The magic phrase isn't 'party', it's 'gathering'. It did not need to be a party, the law was about gathering indoors for anything other than the purposes of work. The guidelines specifically banned works Christmas parties. Quite obviously, and as stated by the report, and shown in the photos...

Can't make an actual point, looks like I'm losing this one, so I'll shout something and run away. Tedious.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Yeah. I'm not sure about your point but I've worked in private industry for ooh, twenty or thirty years. And yes, sometimes we send someone off with a big speech from a senior manager. We don't normally do it in a small room with a load of booze and crisps though, maybe our workplace is just a...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

You've already said you're happy to tolerate lies and criminality from our MPs because they're basically all the same. I don't need a high horse to rise above that, to get out of the gutter you just need to step on the kerb.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Quick question: Which bit of all of this stops the government in any way from taking decisive action on any other matter? It's a fatuous argument, this Daily Mail "don't they know there's a war on" bullshit. If anything all it proves is that we'd be better off moving on quickly to a leader...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Oh do come off it, you're insulting your own intelligence as well as ours. Look at the picture and tell me again that this was a brief send off for a much loved colleague. It was quite clearly a substantial piss-up at a time of national lock down when no such gatherings were allowed. Others...
