I don't think it'll be down to Vaughan whether they play at the CBS, that'll be up to the new owner of the arena. It's also going to cost a fair wedge to open the site for just a couple of thousand fans; will phoenix Wasps (if they exist) really be able to afford it?

Unless someone buys both Wasps and the lease, and then gives them ownership of it again, this doesn't happen. If that was going to happen, it would surely have occurred whilst they were still a viable Premier division club.

That's interesting. I suppose it would make sense that someone is trying to set up a phoenix club of some kind. It costs peanuts to set up a company of course, so this could be entirely speculative. Even if there is a phoenix Wasps, I don't see how they start in the Premier division though...

Cov RFC wouldn't want to move. They've got plans of their own at the Butts, and they're trying to do it in a steady, sustainable way. I know, that approach will never catch on. 🙂

At best, Wasps will be in the Championship next season. Debt free perhaps, but now with zero arena income. Crowds of a couple of thousand at the very most. They won't need a 32,000 seat stadium, and they won't be able to afford a six figure rent of any kind, unless they want to end up in admin...

Wasps. Are. Bust. Gone. Kaput. Joining forces with them would make us a better investment in the same way that wearing a ball and chain would make you a better marathon runner.

I'm sure the thought that we might end up with the arena probably is wishful thinking, but the facts are that we've still got a lease and now we're the sole tenant with any clout who is left at the ground. I think anyone who worries about us getting booted out any time soon hasn't really...

Does anyone remember Fisher talking about getting AEG(?) in to run the stadium if SISU ever got their hands on it? Someone out there will have a link, I'm sure... I actually haven't given up all hope yet that the club might miraculously end up with the stadium, but hey, I'm a city fan, what...

I stand to be corrected, but I don't think it works that way, Nick. There might be some covenants/restrictions as to use, but I don't think the freeholder can stand in the way of a sale of the lease to another party. So if SISU came knocking and had the right amount of money, I don't think...

It's always been back to front that. The south stand should always have been for the home fans. Actually closer to the city centre to start off with. Plus, the sun has always shone in the same direction on Saturday afternoons, at least since I was young. 🙂 Poor planning!
