Positive first half, just a real shame we have nothing to show for it. When we play like that, it’s exciting to think what we could do this season. We just need to finish the chances we create. If only we signed a striker.... If Thomas could finish we’d be a few ahead by now. Even so...

Grimmer has woken up, so much space out their. His end product isn’t quite there though (as we know). Mason seems an outlet too, so using the full backs is obviously a tactic. We’re actually playing football, and guess what, we’re ripping them apart. Use out superior footballing ability and...

We’re definitely playing a 4-2-3-1 again, with Bayliss as part of the two. If we can get him and Andreu on the ball, it has the potential to dictate the game. However, thus far it’s hoof ball. I still believe we have a strong strong squad, we just need to click. Let’s hope today is the day.

Strong team, strong bench. Although does the bench indicate MR favours Bakayoko over Hiwula? Surprising if so. Or is he injured?

Conor Chaplin - Signing Confirmed (Finally!)

Yes I agree re the hoofball comment, which is why I said in both of my posts that his success will depend on the type of football we play. I accept it’s a L1, but I think it’s a generalisation to suggest you can’t play football in this league. For example, Bayliss and Andreu are technically...

Conor Chaplin - Signing Confirmed (Finally!)

That was the point of my post; it explained two ways in which I believe he can play as the lone striker. Adam Armstrong did it in the same system in this league. Sergio Aguero is one of the best strikers in the world, has often played as a a lone striker and is only two inches taller than...

Conor Chaplin - Signing Confirmed (Finally!)

As has been said before I think he would work in a 4-2-3-1, with the right three behind him. If all can play football and look for his runs, that should work. Or even more attacking would be Andreu as part of the two alongside Doyle/Ogogo/Kelly, which would make us more attacking, but also a...

Controversial, but I’m not convinced by Andreu.

We’re sitting deep again. It doesn’t help that the ball keeps coming straight back. Time for Biamou.

We’re sitting deeper and deeper. We need to get on the ball and play football again.

Bakayoko is not a target man type striker. For a big man he doesn’t hold it up well. We have two of them now; him and JCH.

So much space down our left hand side, the issue is Mason is isolated when he gets it. The one time Hiwula is there and runs at them, we win a penalty. Not sure on Bakayoko yet, his movement at times is good, but other times he seems to make the wrong move or does it too late. It’s obviously...

Penalty won by Hiwula and scored by Bakayoko. Bloody shit signings.

Mason has lot of the ball but he has limited options, as Hiwula is playing very centrally, he’s drifting off his wing a lot. Probably because he isn’t a winger.

As I said he’s not a good footballer but when he doesn’t play, we miss the other elements he adds. If Ogogo (or Kelly) can take on that mantle then that would be ideal.

Doyle might not be good at football, but he’s a great leader on the pitch. He’s is the refs ear and winding their players up constantly, which is what we want. Mason is seeing a lot of the ball, but he’s a little isolated each time.
