Is Jones injured/ill? Only two options to directly change the game from the bench.

Quite attacking though to be fair. Let’s hope that indicates we’ll play with a positive intent.... Still think we’ll win today.

No team news yet? When I left this morning it was cold, so I’m definitely not dressed for the warm weather.

Is that a genuine question? If not, then Nick already beat me to the response.

Correct, the winning goal did, but (genuine question) can you recall any other goals, or even chances from a similar set up? And I’d argue the first goal wasn’t specific to being a big man at all, it was a poachers goal. I understand the Doyle hoof ball point, but that’s literally my argument...

I’d like to see a Chaplin-Hiwula partnership too. Both have good movement, pace and are tricky players to mark. However it would be heavily reliant on us playing football tomorrow i.e. with positive intent, on the ground or looking for balls over the top to maximise the pace we have, without it...

Does that indicate a 5-3-1-2? With Mason and Hickman wing backs? Or is it 4-4-2 with Hiwula left wing, Hickman right and Andreu behind Bakayoko?

The Curious Case of Jordy Hiwula

Bizzare and harsh comments from Robins, unless that management style is a motivator for Hiwula? We will see. However he did the same to Bakayoko and he’s not really had a kick since. Granted, Hiwula didn’t do much when he came on, but he had nobody around him to create; Thomas and Jones were...

Match Thread Charlton Athletic vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 6th Oct

Is Brown definitely still out? If so, I’d have the following defence: Sterling Willis Davies Camwell Predominantly because that’s four defenders in their correct positions as opposed to Sterling at LB and Thompson/Willis RB, which would mean two out of position. Granted Camwell is a risk, but...

Please can we bring a second striker with pace one to run off JCH. Jones Hiwula Thomas, that pace should scare teams.

Thompson on for Hyam. We’ve gone from decent defensive cover to being on our last legs. Not sure why Andreu has re appeared and we haven’t used one of the actual strikers we have on the the bench. Pace will change this game.

Don’t think I can bring myself to form a proper response to an adult who used ‘lol’ and ‘slagging’ in the same sentence. Have a go at re phrasing and I might respond.

Portsmouth really are there for the taking. I’d like to see pace against there back two. Again, I like Andreu but it isn’t his game or position tonight. Want to see Thomas and Bayliss on the ball more. JCH (bar the miss) has started well.

Sterling has started well. I like him as a player and technically he’s good, but on a fast moving pitch against two Big centre backs, alongside a quasi target man, I’m failing to see the logic behind Andreu. He needs pace in front of him, which he hasn’t got.

Andreu showing why he’s the wrong choice alongside JCH, as the latter wins a flick on the former can’t capitalise on due to lack of pace and movement. Also, Shipley’s started poorly.

Looking at the positive, he can bring on two strikers and Jones. Just frustrating as I really think there’s a player in Hiwula.

Frustrating as it indicates we won’t be playing with two strikers up front. We looked good on Saturday playing more attacking. Looking at it positively, another chance for Bayliss and Andreu to link up. However they’ll be a lack of movement in front of them.

Fair point, but it’s disappointing. He’s only started a few games and had a full season to be fit. He worked hard, but so did a number of other players who I’m sure will start. Hopefully it’s a motivational tactic for JCH.
