Obviously McCallum is much younger so won’t have the games played. We’re talking about how good they are right now- McCallum played plenty of mins for a playoff side last season while we finished 9th. He has much more about him going forward than Bidwell.

McCallum is better than Bidwell. Saying Rudoni is better than O’Hare at this point is just bias showing; there’s no way you’d say that if we still had Cal and Rudoni was in L1 with Hudds.

Bang on, he is a good barometer of where our squad is. If we had enough quality for him to be a squad player/competing for a place we’re probably up there with the best in the league. While he’s a nailed on starter we probably aren’t.

No way. At least Southgate had some top level managerial experience before taking the job, and the team was at a much lower ebb then. Giving it to Carsley would be a massive risk and a potential waste of a fantastic generation of players.

I think that would be harsh. Sakamoto on the right was a staple of our period of good form last year; from the first time we switched to 4 at the back until his injury we were one of the best teams in the league.

Why? Wright had a better season than him in a more difficult league. I think EMC will have to earn his spot.

Will be this I'm pretty sure. EMC will compete with Wright on the left (can push Wright into the striker role too) and maybe Sakamoto on the right. Torp will be competing with Rudoni & Eccles.

I think this is the key to it all really. If you take sentiment out of it, O'Hare is 26 with an ACL tear on his record. Even if he was outstanding for us we'd be unlikely to get a big fee for him at 28+ and we'll always have the risk of the injury reoccuring. Rudoni is younger, no injury risk...
