    Willis to Luton?

I’ve always rated him and as a fan base we’ve all witnessed him improve over the years. I’ve no idea why he was played at RB so much, it was evident that wasn’t his position and it probably hampered his development. He’s a good CB, but let’s not underestimate how important pace is to his game...

    Running

I’ve entered it, still not quite sure why though! There’s a Kenilworth half in September I’m considering too.

Really? I wanted to give it a go!

    Running

Yep, quite a few of my mates and family came to watch and they were definitely merry by the time I finished! I wasn’t jealous at all!

Will it be harder than first thought next season?

    Bouncebackability - thanks Alan.

    Running

The boredom definitely applies to the training runs. I tried to find different routes as much as possible to vary it and listened to podcasts as opposed to music, so I could be engrossed in the conversation as opposed to music which doesn’t quite distract enough. That being said, when extra...

Will it be harder than first thought next season?

I agree and that’s where the frustration with MR really set in. Pretty much every match thread this season, I’ve made the same point re allowing us to attack. When he does, we look a really good team. We just need to hope he’s learned from the previous two seasons!

    Running

I wish I’d discovered this thread a few weeks ago, any extra motivation would have been welcome - I finished the London Marathon on Sunday. Without doubt one of the hardest challenges I’ve ever faced, especially mentally. I’m by no means a runner, in fact I actively dislike it! When I played...

Will it be harder than first thought next season?

It might sound trivial, but I really believe the pitch will have an impact on our season. If MR recruits in the same vein of technically superior players and sets out in a more offensive way as he has done in recent weeks, encouraging the players to play football, then a good pitch will be...

    Next Seasons Confirmed Squad/Transfer Rumours

I know Hickman was rated at one point, but that may have changed now and Thompson is predominantly a centre back. I’d sign one starting RB (á la Sterling) and if the current academy players aren’t good enough, then a promising youngster as cover (á la McCallum).

Very good. Any view on the point I made though?

    Next Seasons Confirmed Squad/Transfer Rumours

I appreciate your point but I disagree somewhat; at times we do play with width and the wide players are asked to play more as a traditional wingers. Equally other games they tuck in and are asked to play an inside forward role. Different games, different positions. The concept of 4-4-2 is...

    Next Seasons Confirmed Squad/Transfer Rumours

Not seen enough of Hickman to know myself, but I do know he was highly thought of previously. Sounds as though things may have changed. No, Hiwula is our best striker so I wouldn’t drop him. I’d argue he’s not had a fair chance in the lone striker role, but I accept he doesn’t have the...

    Next Seasons Confirmed Squad/Transfer Rumours

But played 36 in the league, but granted if taken literally he’s not an ever present. Pedantry aside, my point is still the same; he’s clearly been MR’s first choice RB, so if we sign another in the same mould in the summer, we don’t need to sign two. I’d rather that than a repeat of the LB...

    Next Seasons Confirmed Squad/Transfer Rumours

The foundations of the squad are absolutely fine, we don’t need a complete overhaul, plus I’m sure 1/2 of the U23’s will surprise us and feature more next year (Burroughs? Williams? Hickman?). I’m not sure why we need two RB’s, one first choice with a youngster supporting should be fine...
  16. Great_Expectations

    Sterling

He had a fantastic middle section, but has looked tired and completely lost his attacking impetus the last few months. That isn’t what you want as an outlet at RB. It isn’t anything to do with Thomas either, it’s clear Thomas plays to instructions, hence why some games he’s hugging the...

48 hours away from expulsion / New Ricoh Talks!

There isn’t even that much wrong with that statement, but I still read it and think ‘Fuck off you corrupt, egotistical and immoral tossers’.

48 hours away from expulsion / New Ricoh Talks!

Considering the circumstances and how late in the day we are, not sure how anyone can be disappointed with one year. It might not be beneficial long term, but it gives us another year to either negotiate for a longer term agreement, discuss potential new ground sites or sell to a new owner...

Match Thread Portsmouth vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Monday 22nd Apr

Absolute bloody joke. Why have we started zonal marking? Burge is bad enough at set pieces as it is without letting every opposition player have a run at a stationary defence. The introduction of Chaplin is a bad decision too, he doesn’t work in this system. Plus we end up sacrificing others...

Match Thread Portsmouth vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Monday 22nd Apr

Kelly has been at his absolute best today, when he plays like this is eveident how important he is. However then presence of Shipley next to him is not a coincidence. I’m a big fan of Bayliss, but his lack of positional awareness hampers Kelly. Also, Shipley looks a lot better when he just...
