    Earlsdon's Observations At Cheltenham

Doyle always looks for that edge. Taking quick free kicks can sometimes make you look stupid, normally because your own players aren't always switched on but it is a really useful weapon against League 2 defenders when they don't have time to organise themselves. I remember when we had Dennis...

    Meltdown

..... against us. It was a freak & not typical. If they get a result against Mansfield it is more likely to do with Mansfield's limitations rather than Yeovil's qualities.

    Meltdown

The Yeovil performance at the Ricoh was a one off freak - they are not very good. We would be unwise to count on them doing us any favours against Mansfield. We have to at least draw against Cheltenham so come the last game it is in our hands either way.

Match Thread Coventry vs Lincoln Match Thread - 24th April

. Well if he does let's hope he is subtle about it as the last thing we need is to be playing with 10 men in such an important game. I would rather he got on trying to play his game rather than carry on some ancient vendetta.

    Lincoln, Mansfield or Us?

The reason bookies clean up is because punters play by the presumption that what happened previously is going to happen again. Football doesn't always work like that, & while I agree its unlikely Mansfield will win their last 4 games, there is a chance they could.

    Ben Stevenson £513,000

A lot of those that seem to believe this £175k loan fee are ones that normally demand a link as proof of this type of thing, so can someone please put something up from either club that shows this fee is real, rather than a figure plucked up by someone as guesswork, which then becomes 'fact'...

This £175k fee for loaning JCH is an urban myth though isn't it?

    Playoffs

We don't know what Accrington team will turn up for their game on Saturday. It would only be natural if they have been partying this week after being promoted on Tuesday. I think we would all fancy our chances in the play offs against a Wycombe team without the beast though.

Match Thread Coventry City vs Stevenage Match Thread - Friday 20th Apr

Jones seems to play on the right as much as the left though, I just don't recall Reid doing likewise. If he's not comfortable playing there he's unlikely to play very well.

I've seen a few people put this idea about playing Reid on the right but I don't recall him ever playing there so it would be quite a risk to start doing so at this point in our season.

Actual Carl Baker Day - It has happened!

Always makes me laugh when we get the jibes about fans treating Baker as a legend, when you only have to read this thread to see the bitterness aimed towards him by many. Not met him myself, but my friend was raising money for 'Help the Heroes' and Baker was the one City player that went out of...

    PONTICELLI

Not sure I agree that JP struggled in the 1st half, I thought he found the new system easier to cope with than McNulty did for instance, but you are certainly right about the visible boost to his game after the 2nd goal. The way he helped close out the game by their corner flag was very...

    Are we going up?

At any play off game the fans will naturally get behind the team & I really don't see this as an issue. The only time when the fans might get on their back is when all is lost. In a play off scenario I just don't see our fans getting on the teams back if we go a goal down. Also in a bigger crowd...

    PONTICELLI

He's from Bedworth & went to Nico, as did Camwell. My kids went to the same school & know them both. There isn't a hospital in Bedworth, so that's why he would be shown as born in Nuneaton (George Eliot Hospital).

    Are we going up?

Sorry but this is bullshit. Plenty of games this season, particularly in the early part of the season & played in front of paltry home crowds, or away games where tickets have been sold only to season ticket holders have had toxic atmospheres, with the regular 'super' supporters turning on the...

Match Thread Coventry City at Crawley Town Match Thread - Saturday 14th Apr

There is not much point playing Ponti unless he is up front. I would rather McNulty play right but gonna be interesting as to how exactly we do set up. Does seem a little desperate given we've had all season to have a more attacking approach against sides with an ultra negative approach but...

    Tonight’s games

Just having looked at Mansfield's remaining fixtures their game today is a huge one. If we had their fixtures many of our fans would be predicting maximum points. Yes they are on a bad run, but a win today could give them an upturn in confidence going into those remaining games, so hopefully...

    Tonight’s games

74 points should be enough for play offs. Given they have 70 already, I can't see them getting less than 4 points from their remaining games.

    Shit Coventry players

Spong was signed as a potential superstar on the recommendation of Roland Nilsson & I think played in the 2nd of our consecutive youth cup final appearances in the late 90's. He never made our first team though so don't know what went wrong - injury I would guess.
