McCallum was excellent last night, but Saturday will be a completely different game, with different requirements. Gillingham are likely to sit back and our full backs are likely to play a more attacking game than a defensive one, and as such I think we need a more right footed player, so maybe...
In an ideal world this would be the case, although I'm not too against the principle of season long loans. However, as things are at the moment we have to be in the market for loan players, so as to not lose a competitive edge on our rivals.
Seeing as Wilson, Pask, Hyam, McCallum & Eccles played no part in the under 23 game yesterday, they must all have a good chance of playing tonight.
Possibly even Burroughs too!
Not sure I agree with your judgement on Hiwula's workrate. I think that is a weakness & he noticeably disappears for long periods in games. I think of the current team Shipley & Kelly cover far more for Mason than Hiwula does.
I do share your worries about Godden being isolated though, given...
I have to say that cheered me up. Remember thinking when Jobello 'scored' that the celebration was a bit OTT, & that if we hadn't spent so long celebrating, the ref wouldn't have had the time to think through the offside decision.
Much depends on our attitude to the game. If we don't score early I would worry about it turning into the type of game, like the pre season matches we have against inferior sides like Nuneaton, that we invariably make hard work of. I hope I'm worrying about nothing, but years of being a City fan...
Great turn out by our fans given the circumstances. Enjoy the day all that are going, and of course celebrate if we win and when we score, but I like to think we would show some empathy with their supporters and their predicament, and leave out the 'banter' for today. Just concentrate on...
From those stats I'm guessing Bolton's kids played the standard academy keep ball stuff that doesn't always equate well to lower league football. Wycombe would have just looked to bully them.
Don't think there's much chance he would come just to be back up for Kelly, and I would be very surprised if Robins looks to play 2 holding midfielders. Robins seems to like Eccles, so if Kelly does miss the odd game he will probably step in.
Is this really a certain win if it goes ahead? It feels like it should be, but football is rarely as simple as that. I see the bookies price us at 2/1 on, so think that if we played this game 3 times in the same circumstances ,there would be one occasion we wouldn't win. That doesn't equate to a...
Couldn't you just go to a nearby hotel or library and print it off? Maybe even an internet cafe if they have them in the Lake District :) Might charge you 50p or something I guess, but should be doable.
Again, what's the panic? If the demand was there we could have an allocation of 2,800, but given it's a mid week game, we will do well to fill the smaller allocation of 1,400.
